This post is definitely a keeper! With much useful info. Not having had it, I simply used my own, Silver Puppy-generated CS, put it in an emptied, thoroughly cleaned Afrin mister, and shot a goodly squirt up each nostril, inhaling deeply as I did so. It ended the morning cruds in the nose and I haven't had any sinus problems since. Whenever I'm around someone with a cold, I repeat the ritual and sail on through with no problem. My sinus issues may have been less challenging than some, for this to work so well, but if they ever return and require more attention, I'll refer to this post. ThanksBe well,Léna So I've read on here you can use silver to clear up sinuses, and my nettipot/oregano oil is not quite working. I've given it a good bit of time. Tried some additional things with not good results. So I read about sinus flushing on mesosilver's site, and decided to try it (below if anyone is interested). Any reason why this would cause inflammation and burning? It didn't bother the lower part of my sinuses where I normally cleanse with the nettipot, but when I turned around and let it go into the "forward sinus cavities" (as below), the pain got pretty bad, and the after effects have been going on for more than an hour or two now. Not sure if this is normal, or only normal if you already have inflammation or a problem. Basically, does colloidal silver irritate mucous membranes? This procedure has been reported to be effective against sinus infection and the flu. Mesosilver fights on contact, therefore, the silver must come in contact with the infection causing pathogens. A procedure which brings the silver colloid into contact with the infected tissues of the sinus cavities was developed by Dr. B. J. Biagioli and is called the Sinus Flooding Procedure. Before putting colloidal silver into the sinus cavities a small amount of Xylitol must be added to adjust the osmotic pressure to be suitable for use in the sinuses. This prevents the painful sensation that one experiences when water goes up the nose in a swimming pool. Xylitol powder can be ordered here. Prepare the solution: Perform this procedure with a true colloidal silver only. Do not use silver protein products. Silver protein products can cause a serious infection if used in the sinuses. Add one-eigth teaspoon Xylitol to one ounce of colloidal silver to make the rinse solution. Xylitol is available in most health food stores. For additional comfort warm the rinse solution to slightly above body temperature or approximately 100 degrees F. This solution may also be used with a sinus irrigator to flush out the sinus cavities if a sinus irrigator is available. The Sinus Flooding Procedure: a. Lay on a bed face up with the head hanging over the edge of the mattress so the nostrils are pointing straight up toward the ceiling. b. Use an eye dropper to fill each nostril with the rinse solution. Keep filling each nostril until the rinse solution starts to drip in the throat, indicating the sinus cavities are filled. Remain in the same position for 2 to 3 minutes. c. Roll over on the stomach and let the head flop forward over the edge of the mattress. This allows the rinse solution to flow into the forward sinus cavities. Remain in that position for 2 to 3 minutes then sit up and let the rinse drain out through the nose. d. Important: Repeat this procedure 45 minutes later. The two rinses 45 minutes apart constitute a single rinse session. Perform two or more such rinse sessions per day. Relief will typically be noticeable by the second day. It is not unusual for the sinus infection to be gone within three days. e. Repeat two sessions per day until the infection subsides. Very persistent infections may require five to seven day or more.
