Guest guest Posted August 15, 2010 Report Share Posted August 15, 2010 The University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities presents its Community Speaker Series Kick-Off Lecture Saturday, September 18th, 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, Room 1100, Student Services Building, University of Houston, Clear Lake An Overview of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Current Treatments for Behavioral and Emotional Problems in ASD Presenters: Deborah A. Pearson, Ph.D., Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, University of Texas-Houston Medical School, and Quintero, Ph.D., Assistant Deputy Director , MHMRA Drs. Deborah A. Pearson and Quintero will provide an overview of autism spectrum disorders, proposed etiologies of ASDs, and common emotional and behavioral problems seen in children and adolescents with ASDs. They will also present an overview of current interventions for these behavioral and emotional problems. Specific therapies that will be examined include medication management, psychotherapy, family therapy, complementary and alternative medical treatments, behavioral interventions, and social skills training. A complimentary hot-dog lunch will be provided by UHCL and the Space Center Federal Credit Union. There is no charge for the lectures but space is limited.
