Guest guest
Hello, The autism in Russia is not so epidemic as it's here. I don't know the reasons for that. Probably the better enviroment, better food (not hormones, antibiotics in the food, not too much junk food). And the good thing about Russian doctors is that if they see that something is wrong with the child (they check the child every 3 months as soon as child is 1 y.o), they start to give him OT, PT, and ST immid. without losing time for evaluation, etc. It's better to give more therapies for healthy child, than miss the child. Usually the child can get ST like 20 hours per week (excellent ST can cost you max. 5$ per 1 hour if you decide to go privately). So the children get the therapies much-much earlier than children here. Plus they are more intensive. The therapies in Russia use mainly Montessori / Floor time approach in combination with russian play therapy and music/dance/rhytm movements (it's called here brain gym). The child at age 3 with mild delay usually gets 45-50 hours per week in the special child center. The bad thing is that biochemical treatments are far beyond than in US. Although, I give my son PANTOGAM. It's Russian medicine which dramatically improved my son's expressive language and his cognitive abilities. The neurologist recommended to give it to Ben, but the doctor told that if we started giving him this medicine earlier (like at age 2, now he is 5) my son would be much-much better. That's all about Russia I think. Regarding the DAN! doctor I would go tomorrow to her again with my husband who speaks English much better than I do and would explain and show the articles about the anti-viral treatments for autistic children to the doctor. I hope this would help. Thank you for help, Dilya noaholiviaian wrote: Dllya,Do Russian doctors treat kids with Autism in any way that resembles DAN!? Just curious, is Autism as much of an epidemic there?I believe you have learned a $300 lesson: ask many questions before you make the appointment. It seems, even with DAN! doctors, we have to go in to the process skeptical. If you do decide to go elsewhere, write a list of what you are concerned about, the interventions you are interested in; and ask specifics about the doctor's practice.Maybe it is the East Coast price, but $600/hr is nuts. No good doctor should spend that little time with you and your child on the first visit. I say it is a very bad omen.I would go elsewhere. If you are bold, I would send the office some anti-viral articles and research papers (anonymously if you like!).I am sorry it didn't go as you had hoped. Guest guest
I'm sure we could find all kinds of professionals in any number of countries who would do ALL of our jobs much cheaper. Be careful what you wish for. > It makes me want to start a company that brings in Russian therapists to > the US.
