Guest guest
Hi everyone, I just have a quick semi-whine about my life. I once thought it would be great to be a pharmacist because you'd know all kinds of arcane facts and you'd be respected and make good money. I never actually considered doing that - I hated chemistry - but I've always admired a good pharmacist. O.K. so here's my daily routine these days : Mornings: Daughter gets 1 pill Concerta, 1 pill Risperdal Son gets 1 capsule stomach meds, mixed with lemon yogurt (only!) because he can't swallow pills. He also gets eye drops. Dog gets antibiotics and heart meds and two different eye drops. I get eye drops and allergy medication. Evenings: Daughter gets 1 1/2 pills Risperdal, 2 3/4 pills Lexapro. Son gets eye drops. Dog gets antibiotics, a vitamin supplement and two different eye drops. I get more eye drops. Do I have a white coat, a good salary and respect? Hmm. All I can say is that if I die, the whole family will go with me! Yours pharmaceutically, in NV, mom to Annie (OCD, ADHD, TS), her brother (ulcer, allergic conjunctivitis), a dog (enlarged heart, eye infection), and herself (allergic conjunctivitis). The other dog, the fish, the lobster, the cat and the husband appear to be healthy...
Guest guest
Oh, , you made me go to bed with a smile on my face (empathetically speaking!) I can really relate to medication administration. How do you keep them all straight? Yesterday, Anne came up to me at breakfast time with her eyeballs bigger than the saucer my coffee cup was sitting in to say... " um, mom,...I gave my night-time insulin dose this morning " (i.e. I gave six times my dose of short-acting insulin this morning). After I picked up *my* eyeballs (which had popped out of my head), Anne began eating the equivalent of *six* breakfasts over the next three hours while we monitered her sugar every 15-20 minutes...this on the morning my husband was at work and I was to take my son 1 1/2 hours away to band camp. Everyone eventually did just fine, and I had to laugh at Anne's ability to handle the situation with humor ( " oh, well, mom, if my sugar goes too low, I'll just seize, but it will eventually come back up....... " ) Not exactly the way I wanted to start my weekend, but we're all fine now. I hope your family regains an even keel soon, also- Blessings- (Ohio) Anne (13, OCD, ADHD, and diabetes...she didn't eat anything else after the six " breakfasts " yesterday
Guest guest
, I think you deserve the white coat and the salary but if you have to start medicating (the husband) that's where I'd draw the line! Kelley in NV
Guest guest
LOL, thanks for the smile ! I've learned a bit about meds just by belonging to this group & others, and 's only been on the one (Celexa). When I think of all the meds you & others have tried/switched to over the years, I consider you pretty much " experts " on those particular ones, probably more so than an actual pharmacist who has had no family members on them, as I know we parents study/read about them far more " detailedly " than they (pharm) do on a regular basis. Keep that great wit & sense of humor! > Hi everyone, > I just have a quick semi-whine about my life.
