Guest guest Posted January 13, 2011 Report Share Posted January 13, 2011 I got off the bus, which happens to be directly across the street from Fitness. As I hobbled across the street toward the gym Noel came out the front door and asked, " so how was your bus ride? " I replied that the bus ride was just fine, it's walking that I was having trouble with. " Well quit being a pussy!! " he yelled. " I'm not! " , I retorted, " I'm just making a statement. " . Troy, aka Third Eye Jiujitzu, was there, got a hearty hello and an introduction to one of the fighters in the room. It was really nice to see him again! Today was chest and triceps. I don't know why I thought this was going to be easy; I guess after Leg Day really anything seems easy by comparison. I gimped over to the first machine and when we were done this guy came in and Noel turns to me and says, " Look out, we have a Screamer " . Sure enough, after machine number three from the back room came an AAAAAARRGH !!! AAAAAARRGH !!! " and then a loud Ka-KLaNg sound of weights hitting the floor. I almost lost my grip on the bar! It was hard to keep a straight face and you could see others on the floor stirring too. After chest machine #4 Noel went to get his cute baby, Valentina, from the babysitter at the door. When I went to get a drink my arm was shaking as I lifted the water bottle to my lips and I had trouble holding it still for a swig! He wouldn't tell me how much I was lifting no matter how many times I asked, saying it was just a number and it was all relative. Well maybe but I would like to measure my progress, and brag if the weights seem heavy - I mean, that's part of the payoff of all this hard work, right? We did the three tricep machines with Valentina. Such big brown eyes she has, like one of those darling anime characters! SO CUTE! When the workout was over Noel said, " Good job tonite " .I went to the locker room, force fed myself a protein shake, and as I was leaving the locker room was the Screamer himself on the chest machine I was on earlier. " AAAAAARRGH !!! HOO HOO HOO HOO! " , he vociferated. I got the giggles. I was supposed to be in my friend's Body Pump video tomorrow but sadly the only sections I can do normally are biceps, shoulders, abs and the cooldown, as Noel killed all my other body parts. She said she had enough people so more than likely I won't need to go unless others bogue on her, then I will go but just be one of those " special needs " participants! I hope my legs will have recovered by Sunday so that I can run 5 miles, as my 8K Valentine Run is only a month away! I need to get some trial runs in first! I really hope that by doing all these heavy squats that my wonky knee will get stronger too and thus do better with running. Whenever I am able to run more is when the weight starts to melt off of me too. I think my natural diet is more akin to that of a runner. My lungs and heart are in tip top shape for running, it's just my knee and hip that need to catch up.
