Hallo :-)

Well, I am translating DE-POL but thought an English term might be helpful...

Does anybody know the correct English term for " Nackengriff " ?

Context: after physiotherapy " NACKENGRIFF " has become possible.

I would instinctively translate it gripping your neck but this patient would

certainly not be able to do that - he cannot move his elbow!

Could anybody help?

I am also trying to find a nice term for " wackelsteif " (a WACKELSTEIF joint)

Thanks a lot,

Magdalena

Hello Magdelena,

The " Nackengriff " is a test of shoulder function. It seems to

involve putting your hand on the back of your neck. The closest I

can find in English is the Apley scratch test - scratching your

shoulder blade.

Here is a very nice document on examining the shoulder:

Here is a pdf article in German with illustrations.

If you Google for Nackengriff Schürzengriff, you'll find a fair bit

of info.

Good luck!
