Guest guest
My son would love to write his story to your daughter. He has wanted to earlier share with someone going through it, and we tried to get him hooked up on the OCD site for kids, but I had difficulty, and we just eventually gave up. He is also 9 years old. If she has an e-mail address, I could help him send her an e-mail, because it would make him so happy. I'll talk to him. in Southern Illinois Call for stories I am a new member to your group. I have a 9y.o. daughter diagnosed with OCD last summer. (signs have been evident from early on). You would think that as a school psychologist I would have recognized such things earlier. I suppose I did, but did not want to deal with it! Anyway, that's the quick story from me... My daughter loves to write and recently I found her writing on a piece of paper she entitled " My Life " When I asked if I could read it she was hesitant but said sure. It was all about her frustrations with OCD and how it affects her. More importantly it was a call for others to share their stories with her " please tell me your problems- I won't tell anyone " --she writes. She really does not want to be alone in all this. Her paper was wonderful and brought me to tears. I am considering putting together a book of Kids only stories of OCD/ADD and was wondering if folks might be interested in having kids share their stories. I have not researched it yet and I am not sure what else is out there like that. I would love input from the " experts! Guest guest
Hi My daughter dx at age 13 just turned 18 in march, she also loves to write and included her ocd in her college application essay. The Dean of admissions commented on what a great writer she is across her acceptance letter. Let me know if you have a age limit in mind. I think it a great idea. PS I'm a Social Worker( MSW LCSW) and totally missed the signs too, so you are not alone. I think the mom thing gets in the way LoriT in NJ
Guest guest
>I'll talk to my son about this idea. He is an excellent writer. I think it would be a great way for him to express his frustrations about OCD. I think it would also be good for him to know about other children and their struggle with OCD. He feels so alone sometimes. Corinna, TX I am a new member to your group. I have a 9y.o. daughter diagnosed > with OCD last summer. (signs have been evident from early on).
