Guest guest
Went to court yesterday to fight the tickets for " handicapped placard fraud. " I was dreading the appointment because my hearing at the DMV was such a negative experience. The guy laughed and his supervisor told me that doctors " hand out placards like they are candy. " This judge was professional and understanding. The 500.00 ticket was waived! The head of the Mayors Office on Disability in SF Ca came to testify. She told the judge that there is a problem with the DMV not communicating the laws of placard use, specifically- surrounding use of lost placards. This is a very common problem. When I received a replacement placard at the DMV they said nothing about the ramifications of using my lost card. Also, the parking enforcement division is required by law to check in with the driver before towing the vehicle - they didn't in my case. This was illegal. Anyways, I am glad that I fought it! Take care, Chris
