<<Estrogen is thought to be cardioprotective in women and

hyperprolactinemia and cardiovascular system effects.

Could somebody please explain what *secondary* is trying to

tell me, here?

(Like say it in different words?)<<

It means the studies have suggested a link between

cardiovascular effects and hypoestrogenism that resulted

from hyperprolactinemia

Hi Angelika,

In simple words, it means that hypoestrogenism is a consequence of

hyperprolactinemia. In Spanish you just say hiperestrogenismo " secundario a "

hiperprolactinemia, but I don't know what your language pair is.

Hi,

Of course " secondary " is no problem. What is interesting, if you think about it,

is " hyperestrogenism secondary to

hyperprolactinemia " . I believe no such thing exists. To my knowledge, estrogens

levels are normal in cases of

hyperprolactinemia.Should be the opposite, i.e. " hyperprolactinemia secondary to

hyperestrogenism " .

But, of course, we're only translators, so why bother ...

Thank you, too. Wises ones are discussing if 'secondary' implies a causative

relationship. I'll see what they agree upon...
