Hi Sandi!!!

Is your surgery for gr-ds or tt? I guess I'll be seeing you there--I'll

look for you. Where are you from? Can't wait to meet you....

Hi Bev!

I'll be thinking about you as you travel to Delano to have your surgery! I'm

not close enough to drop by for a visit, but I will be with you in thought

and prayer.

Best wishes for an uneventful surgery and quick recovery.

Hugs and blessings, Ann

Beverly,

Yes,this surgery is much harder than the ds,but the good thing

is you don't have to walk after 4hrs..lol Yes you will have a

binder, and there is a skilled facility right there at the hosp,

so maybe you will be able to go there. I wish you all the best

in your new journey.

If you send a email to Liz A she is very good about visiting

the inmates that have no support person.

Good luck and God bless,

Pat in Taft

Thanks Pat,

Darn, I'm not looking forward to that pain at all!!! I didn't think I

could have any worse pain than the ds surgery. No wonder I'll be

losing more weight afterwards...I'll be too miserable to eat--LOL

Hey, where can I find LizA's email addy? on here somewhere?

Take care, Bev

I didn't think the pain was worse than the DS. You only mention

having a TT...does that mean you Don't have a hernia? Pat had a

hernia repair and a tummy tuck...plus the poor dear is still trying

to heal after a complication...I do think the hernia repairs and

tummy tucks are harder than just the tummy tuck alone. I had a a

tummy tuck and breast lift at the same time...as far as pain goes

Mine was controlled VERY well with Vicoden. My back would hurt more

than my incision because you walk bent for 2-3 weeks. Don't get me

wrong...this is going to kick your ass for a couple days...but you

don't have the eating issues.

Besides the place right there at the Hospital...sometimes they also

use Browning Manor for the extended care facility. Browning Manor is

on Browning Road, North of the hospital....I think the worse thing

about staying at these places are YOU are more " mentally aware " than

the rest of the clients....but for that reason the nurses love to

care for you.

One thing to keep in mind...edema is a problem after the tummy

tuck...so any time your not up and about...get your feet above your

heart....it really helps.

Thanks Jo!!!

Yes, I do have a hernia to repair, forgot to mention that. My pain

was not well controlled last time at all, and I do have a high

tolerance to pain. I guess I'll let you all know how my experience

goes when I get home. Maybe the best bed to stay in would be

one in DRMC since then maybe Dr. K would be visiting me

daily??? I know I'll need to be walking to ease my back pain and

foot and leg pain from the neuropathy. And this time I'm going to

tell Dr. K ahead of time what meds work for me and which ones

don't, now that I know a bit more about that from my experience.

Can't wait til this is behind me. Take care.

Hi Bev-

I, too, have a hernia repair and panniculectomy scheduled with Dr. K for

the 25th. He told me that I'd be in the hospital for two days and that

I'd have to stay in the hotel another two days before returning home. I

will have my wife to take care of me so that probably explains why he

won't have me going to the nursing facility. Like the DS, I have heard

a wide range of individual experiences with this surgery, going from it

being a quick and easy recovery to months of problems. The main thing

is that the skin is detached from the muscle, thereby cutting the blood

vessels. Accordingly, blood flow is compromised and, if it doesn't get

going again quite quickly, there can be problems with parts of the skin

dying and having to be removed. That, fortunately, is really rare.

from Bakersfield will be there for surgery the following day -

same thing!

See you then!

Best -

Bev's TT pre-op worries--HELP

Hey everyone!!

I haven't posted very much because I've been kind of depressed

lately. Lots of stress...my 18 yr old son totaled my car and luckily

he's ok but we're still dealing with lots of stuff from that.

Anyway, I've lost about 125 lbs in 18 months, have exercised very

regularly at Curves for over a year (though I've slacked here

lately). And I'm scheduled with Dr. K for a tummy tuck on April 25.

I was wanting to lose more weight before I had this done, but I

haven't been losing any more weight. In the last 6 months it was

maybe 15 or 20 lbs loss. So the first 12 months were the big

loser months for me. I started at almost 350 and now am about

220. It will have to be strict eating and even more exercising for

me to reach a good looking normal of about 140 or so. Dr. K

says I will lose about 20 to 25 lbs with the removal of the panni

and then another 10 to 15 lbs after that due to the tightness of

the abdomin. That would get me to 180 and then working hard

for the last 30 to 40 lbs should get me to where I want to be.

This surgery has been great for me...except for the gas and lots

of time spent in the bathroom. I think we all have gone through

that.

Anyway, sorry this is so long, but I do have a question for you all.

My sister will be driving me down on the 24th of April to see Dr. K

for my pre-op appt. But then she has to get back to Redding, so

I'll be there alone for the surgery on the 25th. Then after I'm

released from the hospital I'll be placed in a skilled nursing

facility nearby for recovery before coming back home to Redding

which is about a 7 hr drive. Have any of you had this procedure

with Dr. K? Was it worse than or easier than the gr-ds as far as

pain? I'll be there alone which is kind of what I'm worried about.

Since I'm single with no boyfriend or close relative whose

available to come with me....has anyone else done this alone?

Is there anyone from this group who is in the area who visits us

patients? Any support would be appreciated. It's times like this

that I realize what a loner I am. I'm sure my mother would come

with me if she were alive. And my sister is very busy with her

work and family so she can't stay. I feel kind of out in left field

here.

Also, does anyone know which " skilled nursing facilities " that are

in the area where they might place me? Are they good ones? Do

we wear a binder and or a girdle for a while....Dr. K didn't say.

Any words of wisdom, advice on after care, or local support

would be greatly appreciated. I would dearly love to meet each

and every one of you. And I hope we do all meet some day soon.

Thanks for reading.

Hey Nick,

It sounds like I'll be seeing you in the hospital for sure. I hope

that we have the quick and easy recovery with no complications.

Where are you from? I look forward to meeting you and your wife

and too! See you soon.
