Guest guest
Our nutritionist has recommended aminoplex and L-carnitine for our 5 year old. The problem is that I understand that it should not be taken with any other protein, and for several months he has been completely a water only drinker - no juice. The only juice that I can get him to drink now (with the aminoplex and Lcarnitine) is : " capri sun " - which isn't even a juice. And he will only drink it on the capri sun container, not poured into a glass. And he won't drink aminoplex in plain water. He refuses apple sauce. And ironically, I was so happy to move him to water beng his only beverage that I am reluctant to give him capris sun 2x a day. He has " mild yeast markers " and is on probiotic gold. He used to have red cheeks several times a month, but I haven't seen this for a while. I need more ideas to get the aminoplex and l-carnitine into him ... thank you, Margaret
Guest guest
Thank you Peg! I did not know about the premixing problem with the aminos. I will make sure that they are not premixed. I just bought pear juice and will try adding a bit to the capri sun/water combo too Margaret _____ From: Peg Pickering > You might try squirty the aminos before you leave for work in the morning...like on 1st waking to give time before breakfast. > Also, are you premixing the aminos with the Capri Sun before you leave for work? Dr. M has indicated that they are only potent for like 15 minutes after they are mixed with liquid. If your hubby won't do the mixing right before giving it to him, maybe it'll have to wait till just before bedtime.
Guest guest
Margaret: Aminos are tough! I sometimes resort to cherry concentrate or elderberry extract for these bad-tasting things - it is sweet and tart and hides almost anything. You may just have to hold him and syringe it in at first until he knows there's no choice (toughlove). The best for the kids is pear sauce; it does not encourage yeast. Guest guest
> I need more ideas to get the aminoplex and l-carnitine into him ... I have done these two mixes to get the nasty stuff in: --Packet of EmergenC Lite, bit of Kirkman's syrup and a splash of water. Tastes like strong Tang and masks the bitterness. Can be mixed very concentrated to fit in a 2 tsp. syringe. --Vit C powder, couple drops of stevia and a splash of water. I think it's good to mix a little tartness and sweetness together to mask the nasty taste of supps. Lynne

Guest guest
Thank you to everyone who responded...with your encouragement I bought a plastic syringe and pear juice and mix the aminoplex and L-carnitine together into just the small amount of pear juice that fits into the syringe. After he takes the " medicine " then he drinks water or his choice of juice. He's taken it this way for 3x so far, I think this is our new method of choice for the aminos! Thank you again for the encouragement, Margaret **** Margaret: Aminos are tough!
