In Michigan, anyway, I use V24.1 which is "Care of lactating Mother dealing with lactation care". Hope this helps, Emery baby beloved, inc.aconsmith@... wrote: In a message dated 10/21/2006 4:33:28 P.M. lee, There is a well baby code and also a normal lactation supervision code. I had uploaded a file charting/consent/receipt that has these codes. The 3rd page is a copy of what I use as my "superbill" and has many of the ICD-9 codes and such. All of you are welcome to use it. BTW, I also use this on my computer and seems to manage my files really well. Warmly, Tingzon www.theoriginalcomfortfood.com Oceanside, CA

I use 676.9 - lactation. That's all I ever use as BC/BS doesn't want to know anything else. Aetna and CIGNA seem to agree.

Tell me more... what does this code stand for? What do you mean about BC/BS and the others not wanting to know anything else. This is so important. Can you tell us more? Thanks, Ann

Sorry I am coming into this late - just wondering is anyone actually getting reimbursed from insurance companies? Are the patients getting reimbursed?

Just wondering - when I use the 676.9 I sometimes get a letter asking for more codes from the ins co.

I tell them to all send in the forms to the ins. companies either way.

.." A lot of my clients are using health care savings accounts for my services. ....."

Johanna - is this like a "flex plan"? Where the employee has money taken out of their pay - tax free, then some medical expenses are reimbursed that might have not been before.

I know that USLCA ( i think that is the abbreviation) is going to be working on getting us State licensure so that we might start getting our patients reimbursed. - I volunteered to be on that committee.

Ok...BC/BS says that all I saw mom for was "lactation" nothing else. They don't care if baby is slow weight gain, mom has low supply, mastitis, wounds, thrush, plugged ducts, etc. They lump it into "lactation." A lot of my clients are using health care savings accounts for my services. These accounts seem to think "lactation" is just fine. So...this is what I do. I have many other codes on my receipts, but only check this one.

Ms. Berger, Here in Michigan, lactation consults are not covered for someone in private practice (but I think they are a covered code if you are in a doctor's office or are a nurse practitioner). Are you in a doctor's office/NP or are you billing as a consultant in private practice? And which state? Thanks, E."bdormont@..." wrote: Ok...BC/BS says that all I saw mom for was "lactation" nothing

Yes, the health care savings accounts are similar to flex plans. They can use it for whatever they want - usually lots of allied health professionals and those docs who aren't in their plan or who don't take insurance.

,

I'm in Pennsylvania. Private practice. Some of my clients get reimbursed, some it just comes off the out of network provider deductible. However, this can add up with other "incidentals."
