Hi Kim and thanks for sharing your new treatment! I have never heard

of this. Can you tell us more about it? What is it exactly?? Dumb

question but I've just never heard of it before. We've had luck with

B-12 too but it doesn't have the effect it did intially.. I saw huge

improvements inititally and we've only been on it about 3 months

now. I still think it definitely makes a difference.. just not as

much as initially. I love hearing about someone's progress with

something new.

Dr. McCandless.. is this something that you've used or had luck

with?? Could you share your thoughts on this??

Thanks Kim and glad you are seeing progress. Keep us posted.

Dr. Jim Neubrander, our MB-12 guru, recently starting

adding a small amount of adenosylcobalamin (the form

that is in the mitochondria) to the compounded MB-12

mix for the kids who have an elevated MMA

(methylmalonate) and is reporting good results. I

have not done this yet, but will find out all about

it from my buddy Jim at the Think Tank in D.C. Dr. JM

MMA (methylmalonate) is on the organic acid test, one of the " Methylation

Pathway Markers " . A vitamin B12-dependent enzyme, methylmalonyl CoA mutase

converts the amino acid valine into energy-yielding products, and in Vitamin B12

deficiency this conversion is impaired as well as the one in which methionine is

recovered from homocysteine, leading to accumulatoin of both homocysteine and

methymalonate. Dr. JN has found that adding a little adenosylcobalamine helps

move this cycle along better than methylcobalamin alone. I call it

" fine-tuning " and have not yet started doing this myself, but may if he can

convince me at the Think Tank that it really makes that much difference. Dr. JM

Dr. McCandless,

I'm sorry to trouble you with a question with so much going on in your life

right now, but what is methylmalonate and on what test does it show up?

Many thanks and best wishes as always.

I have always said that the #1 weapon in my arsenal for Henry is

B12. Well, despite daily shots his MMA remained somewhat elevated,

although less than before. About a month ago we added

adenosylcobalamin and again, it was like a miracle drug for him.

Within two days an explosion of functional language and imaginary

play. Have to say if I could only keep one supplement of all the

ones he gets, it would be the new B12. Can't tolerate many of the

methyl donors like TMG, etc, but B12 is a miracle for us.I am very

interested in what is said about it at the think tank...Kim
