Yes, old latin name vallecula Sylvia (Sylvian fissure) is the same as lateral

sulcus, of which there are two - one on each side.

Not to be confused with Sylvian canal, which is aquaductus cerebri, otherwise

mesencephalic aquaduct, of which there is one, connecting the 3rd and 4th

ventricles.

could someone confirm that les vallées sylviennes are lateral sulci.

and how many of them are there in a single brain, anyway?

context is this sentence: l'IRM retrouve une giration d’aspect
