Guest guest
It is not unusual for about 20% of kids to have a negative reaction to glutathione. I usually start with a low oral dose (75 mg once daily, and work up to 150 mg twice daily) before giving the transdermal, which is much more powerful. Also, and I'm sure Lynne might contribute here, many kids need to be stabilized on the methylcobalamin injections and then they are able to tolerate the transdermal glutathione without problems. Dr. JM GSH causing pain in 2yo? Hi, we've been using GSH on our son for about 3 weeks. He has 1/2ml of cream in the morning and 5 days ago we just started 1/2ml of cream in the evening. He is 2 1/2 and weighs 25 lbs. Ever since we started the evening dose, he wakes up every night screaming and writhing in pain. He's inconsolable and cries for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours every night and just twists and turns in the bed while screaming in pain. Are we giving him too much GSH? This was the dose his DAN doctor recommended. We didn't see any problems with just the morning dose, although he seems to have lost his appetite. We add TTFD on Monday, so I'm really worried about overdosing or doing anything that will cause our son damage. Has anyone else had this problem? Thank you so much! Guest guest
Hi, all- Does a child stabilized on transdermal GSH and methylcobalamin injections need oral glutathione as well, if the TD GSH is more powerful/effective? Guest guest
This depends on the condition of the gut. Oral GSH definitely confers some protection to the gut from invading pathogens and inflammation. Even though only 20% is absorbed vs the transdermal, that 20% is a great help to the gut tissues. If your child has gut problems that are difficult to manage, I would give him/her the oral as well as the TD - the more GSH the better (obviously for the kids who tolerate it).
