Guest guest
I was told that Banana Boat baby was OK to use (GF) by either someone on GF list or the GF website.. can't remember which it was. I got it last week-end. I thought it was EXPENSIVE.. I think it was about $11 for a bottle but it may be cheaper elsewhere. No reactions to it that I could tell but then I was chasing two 2 year olds at an outdoor festival so who knows really! > Anyone out there have a safe sunscreen? Guest guest
The only one that my son can tolerate with reacting (large hives, or red rash that looks like a burn) is Neutragena sensitive skin 15..which is hard to find! I have no idea if it's GF or not..but we use it as he seems allergic to every other one we've ever tried! Janiece
Guest guest
My understanding is that titanium is not toxic, even in the mouth for braces and things. Dr.J...??? Your thoughts? Here's a description: Uses for Titanium Dioxide The non-toxic and inert nature of Titanium Dioxide leads to its use as a colorant and opacifier in the food, drug and cosmetic industries. Purified grades are used for the following applications. Pharmaceuticals - Used as a colorant for ointments, capsules, lotions, creams, and various dosage forms. Cosmetics - Used as a colorant for creams, lotions, powders, eye shadows, lip sticks and other cosmetic preparations. Banana Boat is GFCF, but according to other web groups (chelating kids) might not be a good idea because of heavy metals (titanium oxide) and other chemicals. Pure Zinc Oxide was recommended, but I am concerned about the effectiveness of it. My children are " the fairest of them all. " Both boys are redheaded and fish belly white. I need a good strong sunscreen for when they go out even though we avoid peak sun hours (11am-3pm). I also want a healthy one since we are going to try chelation this summer. Any thoughts or suggestions? Any good websites for good skin care, deodorant, or lotion choices that self products without aluminum or other metals? Guest guest
The other thing that was mentioned in abmd postings was to look out for salycilate in sunscreens b/c it can stress the sulfate system? I do not know enough about this or titanium dioxide to make an informed judgment. All I know is my boys require it, and I would love educated guidance on choosing the healthiest option possible. I have worked hard to educate myself, but I have only been doing this a year. I was just starting GFCF and supplements last year at this time, so heavy metals are still in my learning curve:-). All help appreciated b/c if I am going to chelate, the last thing I want to do is add back anything I am trying to pull out.
