I mentioned in previous mail my 3 yr old Ds just got autism diagnosis. Up to

yet I 've really concentrated on the bio chemistry of what been causing the way

he his rather than the assessment process. In fact when he was assessed I knew

nothing about the process or the the triad they use.

Since then taking into account their observations I've realised my 9 yr old dd

also has this profile. She has been on steroids since 14 weeks old for blood

disorder so this would have controlled neuro inflammation.

We have also done bio med since she was 4 - not aimed at asd but it has been the

same approach. We have run yearly ONE tests and tried to tweek imbalances.

I've always thought she had many asd tendancies and now realise why she has been

such a 'pain' to bring up especially when she was younger.

Because of her blood disorder she has always had the support at school - not for

learning reasons but for social and emotional reasons.

Part of me thinks leave well alone as she's doing OK but as she moves to comp

and needs to be more independent (which I know she will struggle with) I fear

her academic success will suffer unless her learning profile is highlighted.

She has just been off school for almost 7 months and had home tuition. From

this it is evident that she is far more intelligent than she has been able to

express at school. I just thought this was because she was having 1 to 1 but

now I realise its because the tutor is letting her build on what she knows using

her own individual learning style.

She is very intelligent and getting by at school without this been noticed.

Any thought on whether to persue assessment or leave well alone.
