Guest guest
It seems that for just about any occasion, the knee-jerk type of celebration is to go out to eat. But I'm trying very hard to avoid that! What other ways can you think of for celebrating (with others) that don't include stuffing your face? Some things I've thought of are -- movies (no greasy popcorn!), museums, garden walks (if your city has one -- the Arboretum in Seattle is fantastic, and Indy's Art Museum just put in a new garden walk), dancing, Putt-putt golf, skating, amusement parks... Any other ideas? I can think of a lot of things that I could do myself, but my husband doesn't share the interest in -- such as going to a dog show, going to the local pottery making place I like, going to a fiber fair or other craft show, visiting local garden centers to shop... Anyway, I'm trying to find alternatives to rewarding or celebrating that doesn't involve food. My husband said that he thinks celebrating with food is " hard wired " into us, but it probably came backwards -- that when food was available, people celebrated. Makes sense. Any other suggestions?
