Guest guest
The more I think about the sciatica, the more I think I've figured out the answer. I've been doing more and more high impact. I think my back is telling me, " no. " I've enjoyed the bouncy feel, like freedom, but I think it needs to be kept to once in a great while... >:-P Indyrose > > I've been feeling some twinges of sciatica lately (and I'm NOT pregnant!;-) ) -- About 3 years ago I had it really bad, and an epidural injection finally settled it down (at a cost of $5000!!! for one injection -- it was worth it, though.) I have a herniated disc at L4-L5. I've been reading up on the recommended exercises, and found this statement: > > " More importantly, the spine specialist may recommend that the patient with this condition should avoid getting into a forward flexed (bent over) position. " > > It seems that in nearly all the workouts and stretches I've seen, they use a " roll the back gently up " movement. > > Isn't that the movement this article says to avoid? > > If so, I'll need to figure out a substitute...My abs are stronger than they've been in decades right now, so I know the pain is not due to weak abs, which the article also eluded to! > > Indyrose >
