Guest guest
Hey Guy, Check your scales with another scale. I showed a 2lb weight drop on my scales and went and checked it against the one I had been using at Kmart, and I was surprised to see a drop to 314lbs. Today I reweighed to see if it was a fluke, and got 315....Still a drop to 62 lbs lost. I have also cut carbs to almost atkins level, but not quite(Ate cornbread one night, and a sandwich the next). Increased the protein. I am wondering if you wouldn't be better to try and get your protein in the way of food and not rely on the liquid stuff? I am worrying about you and thought about not posting until after you had seen the good doc, but thought maybe I could give you some encouragement. Here's hoping a little lasix will catch you up with me.....LOL. Guest guest
Thanks , I saw my GP (sorry PCP) last Wednesday. According to his scale I am 337 which was pretty much what my spring scale told me. That means 30 pounds in almost 5 months total. I was up 25 pounds though until I stopped eating anything except salad and drinking the pre-digested protein (not protein drinks), walking 3+ miles per day, and doing the exercise bike 2 hours per day. I might as well not has the DS with all this exercise and only minimal weight loss. I need to find out about the Paso water aerobics, but don't know who to talk with about that. When I see doc on the 22nd, I'm really going to push hard fro the pani, particularly after reading his post to (who was it on this list?) the pani question. Thanks for caring, you and the others on the list too. Jim Re: Jim Hey Guy, Check your scales with another scale. I need to find out about the Paso water > aerobics, but don't know who to talk with about that. > > Jim, Until you see the good doc, try something and see if it helps....Stop the predigested protein....Maybe your not absorbing it....This is my theory...Water goes with protein. When we had pts in the hospital with generalized edema(swelling) and they had low protein levels we gave iv albumin. It would pull off the fluid in the extremeties. If by some chance you are not absorbing the protein liquid, then you may be losing fluid into the tissues. Maybe you are protein malnourished....I think I was preop because I had began swelling in my legs and I never at my biggest swelled like that. And the syndrome I had accompanies protein malnourishment. Could(Marta?) it possibly be that your body isn't absorbing the pre digested stuff? I would try meat, meat, meat(and pork rinds and cheese....You get the drift...) for a few days and see what happens. If it was a protein problem, I figure the first thing that will happen is you will pee yourself silly. Besides, protein stays with you longer. You feel full longer and your body takes more calories to digest this stuff...(?As opposed to predigested??)Salad gives you roughage, but doesn't stay with you near as long. I would love to see if it worked. if you've tried this let me know....But by nature I'm a fixer....LOL. If something ain't right I have to figure out why and this has about driven me over the edge, wondering what is going on with you....LOL. I was looking at the bottle and 2 tablespoons are 60 calories with 15 gms of protein. So you are taking in what?? 8 a day for 240 calories? Nah, the calories are not the problem with this. Jim, there's no way this can be like this, without some kind of problem, I only do 1 mile or 20-30 minutes a day on the exercise bike. and God knows I eat more than salads. What is a typical meal situation in a day(you don't have to if you don't want, or maybe privately), but I'm curious as to what you eat compared to me or who had surgery about the same time. Not suggesting you are eating too much, just wonder if *I* am....LOL. in Bama http://hometown.aol.com/mdl1031/myhomepage/profile.html Surgery- RNY to DS revision on12/6 -377.5 12/17 - 346.5 ( minus 31lbs) 01/15- 338.1 (minus 39.1lbs) 02/12-330.0 (minus 47.5 lbs) 04/06- 324.3 (minus 53.2 lbs) 04/25- 315 (minus 62.5 lbs)
Guest guest
Jim 2 hours per day on the bike plus the walk?! And nothing but salad! Wish I had the willpower! Guest guest
Hi Jim, I find I have to add my voice to the others in regard to your eating more (protein, protein, protein and some fat for good measure). Could it be possible that the predigested protein is the culprit (as in, your body wants to digest its own protein)? I don't know whether that has any validity at all, but it is a thought! Your body probably thinks you had your throat cut, not your intestines rerouted! As always, I am thinking of you and praying for you and wishing all the best in the world for speedy solutions!
