That run and that weather sounds so wonderful. You're making me want to try

running again. I've been able to run short distances, a block at a time, and the

ankles seem to be holding up.

Hey, have you read the book, Born to Run? I'm reading this now. It's about

ultramarathoners. It's a pretty good read.

Good luck with the training.

I think I need to look for that book at the library!  I'm fascinated by people who can run that much, like that one man who did all 50 states in 50 days, a marathon each day.  WOW. Like you, I have to watch it and do it more gradually, which sucks.

I love running for running's sake, but a wonderful side benefit is that when you run the longer distances you get to  EAT more. Lucky for you you have your bike and will be going on rides again in no time.  How is the wrist with biking?

Hi , I think you'd like that book. It's very inspiring to read about these

ultra runners. Ultras are probably not in my future, but I'm hoping I can learn

enough to work my way back up to 5k, LOL.

This author talks about how the Tarahumara Indians of Mexico live their lives

running ultra distances in thin sandles, high heat, and crazy terrain. Their

stride is different. Their footwear is different. So is their diet. Lots to

learn. It's really fascinating. I can see how my ankles and feet got trashed in

the first place. I've been more conscious of how I land and have been working

with thinner and thinner soles. So far, so good. I've been doing run-walk

intervals with my new methods, and no pain so far.

I work with two ultramarathoners. It's nothing for these women to take off and

run 60 miles. It takes lots of character, too. I need a bike for that!

I haven't done anything other than short bike commutes lately, but I'll have to

ramp up soon. I have a hilly half-metric in April. Hand is better! I still don't

trust my grip in this rainy weather, but all is good.

60 miles?? Holy cow!  Amazing!  I am fascinated by human bodies that can run so long. Do they stretch a lot? My goal is to someday do a half marathon.  At this point in time 13.2 miles is enough.  My regular goal is simply to run the waterfront (3 miles) at work during my lunch hour 3-4 times a week and one longer 7-10 mile run on the weekend.

Today I am doing yoga and hopefully some cardio too as partying with friends lately is showing up on the scale.  I wish they had two other Biggest Loser shows, one for fit but fat people like me and another one for for fat cats.

Oh yeah: they stretch, they are good friends with the foam roller, and they lift weights. They even party a bit. My friend likes a good martini, especially after an ultra trail run. Oh, and they eat clean, but they EAT!I bet you'll get there! I saw that you have the chi running book. I bet you'll overcome any barriers.
