What do i do about over flowing the toliet?

Ok guys my son is 5 yrs old and he likes to over flow the toliet at times. Like he did it more then 4 time in the last 2 months. Then he went a month and have without doing it. So me and my husband finally have time alone to go out and he overflows the toliet while we are out. I was like oooo no, I mean we have tried lots of stuff with him and its like he forgets or something. I thought maybe it was because he likes water you know. I mean he will plugg up the sink and play in the water and also take lots of baths. I need to know what to do cause its really upseting my husband and me. We just wish we new how to handle it.
