Perhaps sit should be pointed out for good measure that " Portio " (i.e.

portio vaginalis) is the vaginal part of the uterine cervix, sometimes referred

to

as the vaginal cuff.

Just a final query from my gynaecology text

The full context is : Schmierblutung ex CK, starke Schmerzen im Unterleib,

starker Portioschiebeschmerz

What is Portioschiebeschmerz?

Hi Shane:

the word means " pain due to shifting of the portio " - don't know if there

is an official term.

Pain on motion of the cervix / pain when the cervix is moved (on

examination). Or pain and tenderness... It's an indication of e.g.

inflammation or infection.

Have fun!
