Guest guest
We have not been giving Epsom Salt baths for quite some time (maybe 3 weeks) and have not supplimented Taurine for over a year. What test would I need to refer to for the taurine and sulfate wasting? We do have the white/yellow (yet formed BMs) need to add taurine again. I may have something recent enough to provide you. Creatinine is almost always high in our case. I do not know what the levels for a 5 year 40lb boy should be. We started transdermal MB12 every two weeks (10,000 mcg/ml) at .3cc per dose. This started about 8 weeks ago. I have not run a lab since starting MB12. Regards, Hansen Taurine and sulfate wasting in urine...what about response to methyl B12? Listmates, I would like to hear from listmates who are taking care of a child or person who was wasting taurine and sulfate at the same time. This needs to have been measured at a time when it had been more than a day since an epsom salts bath, and a time when this person was not taking taurine as a supplement for at least a day, and preferably several. If this describes a child you know, can you recall that anything obviously has been key to stopping the wasting of these two sulfur compounds? Have any of you found that using methyl-B12 changed taurine or sulfate wasting? Also, was the child wasting magnesium at the same time? Was his creatinine at this time high or low or just where expected for a child his age? (If you don't know what his urine creatinine at his age would be, please feel free to ask me, for the labs don't tend to use narrow enough age-appropriate ranges. Thanks for any feedback on this topic. Guest guest
, Sounds good! I think Great Plains may be offering both a plasma and a urinary sulfate and a urinary amino acid test, which would tell you if you were wasting taurine. Have you ever had those done? Great Smokies does a plasma sulfate but I don't know if they do a urinary sulfate. Vitamin Diagnostics may do these tests, too, or Doctor's Data. How tall is your little guy? Weight? Has he been staying in the same growth percentile as he has gotten older? How long has he had the light stools? Did he have light stools when you were doing epsom salts? Guest guest
I have not done an Amino Acids test. Should I ask Dr. Megson to send a kit to us for this purpose? We have done two oats in 2 years. (Not much I know) I have posted a couple bits of info from this that may be of help. Not sure what to look for on these results. The OAT lays out so much info. Here is some.... Okay...last uric acid dated 2/29/04 GPL Random Uric Acid was 44mg/dl Creatinine 99mg/dl Uric Acid Creatinine RAtio .45 A serum Creatinine .5 mg/dl BUN Creatinine ratio 18 Does any of this help? About Epson...I will give another bath and see if this would help. I am supposed to be doing it anyway per his Dr. I will do this tomorrow night and see what I get. :-) About height and weight. My guy is 43.5 inches tall. He has weighed between 37-39 pound for nearly 2 years now. He is getting taller, but he is not gaining squat. His diet is not totally limited and he likes to eat so I am not sure why he doesn't gain. Taurine in the past has help with the discolored stools. He has always had light colored stools. They do get darker depending on his diet. I have not taken note of stool color changes upon using MB12, but I will check it out the next time. He is due for another dose in 1 week. He eats alot of fruit. He varies his grains with rice and potato as primary and then soy and corn products. There are a few starches in there. He also eats alot of meat. A true caveman of sorts. Loves meat! (beef, pork, chicken) He does thrive on fruit as snacks. Varied ones. We rotate many fruits. Strawberries, pears, apples, bananas, loves cantaloup and honeydue. Often times I think he OD's on fruit. His ABA reinforces usually consist of awful things like candy. So there is definately sugar in his diet. No gluten or casein. I will check with Dr. MEgsons office on a Amino Acid test and Urinary Sulfite tests. Guest guest
, If you will write me offlist, I'll give you my fax number and maybe you could fax me his results. Because of issues of creatinine, I have learned not to pay much attention to the highs and lows on these reports, but I do my own calculation which adjusts the creatinine and seems to make the significant data stand out. If you want to send both OATS that would be even better. How old was your child at this February test, and how tall or heavy was he?
