Guest guest
Zanna, Abijann already addressed the abdominal swelling. If it is ascites, it's serious so do see your doctor. The usual treatment is diuretics and staying off your feet (if it moves into feet and legs it's even more serious). In severe cases they drain the fluid from your abdomen in a procedure called paracentesis. had this done in March. The doctor used an ultrasound-guided instrument to remove 5 liters of fluid. In regard to the sweating, has that off and on. He'll go through a couple days where he sweats profusely and has chills, but doesn't seem to have a fever. It really saps his energy and it takes him a couple days to recover from these " spells " . In his case the doctor believes it's a remnant of his drinking days (not sure if this is right -- this is his primary care physician saying this, not his hepatologist -- this seems a little fishy to me). But as I recall, heavy drinking was not the cause of your trouble. If you (or your doctor) figure out the sweating thing I'd sure like to hear about it. Guest guest
By the end of the day, my abdomen looks like I am 8 months pregnant. It is weird. Even when I lie on my back it sticks up. It used to lay a little flatter! I have 'spells' too. Last night, I was in so much pain. I took my elivil and 2 vicodin and lied down. I ended up having to take one more vicodin and finally felt good enough to sit up and watch csi with my daughter. Zanna
