Dear SafeMinds Friend,

The Institute of Medicine has had their opportunity to have their say, and the

CDC was assuredly hoping the Immunization Safety Review committee report would

drown out the voices of hard science and parents. By touting their flawed

report as the end of the mercury-vaccine-neurodevelopment disorder conversation,

they are attempting to squelch your voice, and further research, from ever being

heard on this matter again.

SafeMinds is putting its full weight as a leading coalition of scientists,

researchers, clinicians and (most importantly) parents into helping Congressman

Dave Weldon, MD (FL-15) and Carolyn Maloney (NY-14) pass the bipartisan

legislation HR.4169, “The Mercury-Free Vaccine Act of 2004,” and asks your help

to support this effort.

Beginning Wednesday, May 26, 2004, SafeMinds began asking every member of the

United States House of Representatives the following question:

“Will you join us in supporting Reps. Dave Weldon, M.D. (R-FL-15) and Carolyn

Maloney (D-NY-14) in a bipartisan effort assuring the protection of America’s

children and their families from the potential threat of devastating health

effects and a lifetime of economic burdens resulting from vaccine induced

injuries by supporting HR.4169 and removing the cloud of mercury from vaccines

and restoring the public trust in our nation’s immunization programs?”

A scorecard of all the members and their response will be posted beginning next

week on our website (www.safeminds.org). We invite you and all your

colleagues/contacts to keep watch to see how your representatives vote.

involved. You can educate them to the dangers of mercury in vaccines and share

Congress needs to know that the flawed IOM report is not the end of this

conversation; it will only end when your children, and their children are truly

free from the dangers of mercury in vaccines.

Together, we are more than 1.5 million families dealing with the issue of

neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism. Imagine the impact of 1.5

million phone calls and 1.5 million faxes being received on Capitol Hill. If

you have both parents, the grandparents, and two family friends do the same,

that would provide nearly 24 million phone/fax communications to our

legislators.
