Guest guest
Hello to all...i have been lurking on the board but don't post often due to the fact that I don't have a computer at home and when I am at work the only time I have is to read posts (fast in some cases). I am the one who works for one of the insurance companies that tends to approve alot of people but denies this for their own (although I am in the process of challenging them)....I have always wondered to myself did I choose the WRONG company to work for...I have also read on the boards from those who have been denied this lifesaving surgery because of their insurance policy....I have done a little research (and this research is still ongoing), and have taken the wonder of which employer has United HealthCare (which tends to be the most favorable insurance that approves WLS, and specifically DS) and if they approve WLS or not. I have a very small list at this time, in which I have personally verified if these companies have an exclusion to WLS in their policy or not. Now understand something...from what I was equipped with, I could only find out if they specifically have an exclusion written into the policy for OBESITY SURGERY. Most state that they will cover if you have been diagnosed as MORBIDLY OBESE (and of course you will have your doctor submit records to show the necessity). The best company that I know for right now approves DS and covers the highest percentage (which means you pay very little out of pocket) is: AMERICAN EXPRESS (they have employment all over the place). Their website is www.americanexpress.com (go to the careers section). The other companies that approve WLS (there is a good chance they may pay for the DS, but cannot be verified at this time because I wasn't equipped with the CPT codes) are: 1) AOL TIME WARNER (www.aoltimewarner.com) 2) SBC (formerally known as Southwestern Bell)(www.sbc.com) 3) CITIGROUP (www.citigroup.com) 4) Reliant Energy (I believe most of their employment comes out of the Pennsylvania and Texas states),(www.reliant.com/corporate/careers) 5) ClearChannel (they own alot of the radio stations and events amongst other things), (www.clearchannel.com). Please understand that my position here is to inform you all, but if you choose to try to seek employment elsewhere to enhance your possibilities of getting approved through the company's insurance benefits, I do hope that you can also bring your work ethic skills to the table. These are very good companies to work for and value their employees as well. I will update you with further research down the line. I have a consultation in Vegas that I am geared up for (paying out of pocket) so I will see you all laters. God Bless! -a aka DivaInBlack
