Guest guest
Hi, my name is . A friend of mine found this group and we were completely blown away! We actually became friends by discussing all of the annoyances that we have in common haha.. For me, this started at a very young age. In fact, I can't remember a time that I wasn't going crazy over sounds that other people were making. It began with gum popping. Being a child, I would have an extremely hard time containing my anger/displeasure with people; which made life a bit difficult for myself and my family. Overtime, my " collection of annoyances " has grown substantially. Gum popping, lip smacking, breathing out of noses while chewing, eating with mouth open, talking with food in mouth, pen clicking, teeth-brushing, repeating noises of any kind, etc, etc, etc... I could go on for hours. It's quite comical how detailed it all is. I also have noticed that I can't really listen to headphones; as the panning between speakers sends strange feelings down my spine and almost makes it impossible to sit still. It almost feels like restless leg syndrome in my lower back... very strange. I have mostly been able to take care of myself by avoiding certain situations. Although, now as an adult/husband/parent there are situations that are completely unavoidable. I try very hard to be as tolerant as I possibly can, but when it's happening i feel like a crazy person. Half of me has always known there was something wrong with my brain when it comes to this stuff.. The other half, however, just wants people to have better manners!! I fear for the physiological effect this may have on me. I'm only 30 years old now, but if this condition is raising my heart rate and increasing my stress hormone levels; I figure this will undoubtedly raise my blood pressure and take years off my life.. Is this hereditary??? My grandfather and biological father suffer(ed) from the same affliction. I fear that my children will be cursed with this as well.. Anyway, great to know that I'm not alone out there and there are real professionals trying to help. THANK YOU -
