Guest guest
Locally - a figure about 3 years old - overnight stay at the LA respite centre was costed at £500 a night, inlcuding the LA on costs. If the family has DPs they give them £200 a night instead.(Go figure, as the Americans would say.) I suggest you ring the more reputable local care agencies and ask them what they would charge for overnight care for a child with similar needs and of a similar age to yours. Also does an overnight in the LA centre last for a full 24 hours or nearly so? You will want to price a carer for the same time. Also find out cost of mileage etc for any outings etc. Margaret > > Hi > > We are having our review at present and SS are being surprisingly supportive. Part of the package they are offering us is two overnight stays per month but with the recent BBC footage and the fact that DS is autistic and epileptic they will consider giving us DP to pay for someone to be in our home rather then staying in a care home. What we have to do is come up with a figure. Can anyone advise what the cost is normally for 24hr care in a residential place? Or anything similar as I need a figure asap. > > Many thanks > > Kate >
Guest guest
Thanks MargaretI am in the Richmond Borough in London, I have no idea about any local services that provide overnight care. I will try and google now. If you know of any that are around London please let me know.ThanksKate Locally - a figure about 3 years old - overnight stay at the LA respite centre was costed at £500 a night, inlcuding the LA on costs. Guest guest
I would guess a care home would price it much higher to include their building/rental/depreciation/overheads/electricity/heating etc etc costs ? also costs are higher for an 18+ , eg Castlebeck's £3500/wk. By the same token having care in your own home is meant to be much cheaper for SS. Also respite centres here charge by the hr , not a set 24hr. Guest guest
Yes, I suppose the thing would be to find out how many hours an overnight in a Richmond Council home would be for as well as what the Council's full cost is per night. Then you have a starting point to work from. Margaret PS the Cambridge figure of £500 didn't allow for 1:1 support and also provided for a meal of junk food - they failed their Ofsted on this point as well as for failing to keep Care Plans up to date. > > > > > > > > Hi > > > > > > > > We are having our review at present and SS are being surprisingly supportive. Guest guest
thank you for this. It is only 2 nights per month for a 7yr old and he does need 1-1 support.
