Guest guest
Shane, careful! " zu beobachtende/s/r " and " Zur Beobachtung " mean very different things! Either there is simply a condition that can be seen (observed) or there is a problem that needs to be watched (kept under observation)! Guest guest
Hello once again. I am now working on the second last of ten documents and here are the 10 queries that I have: Your assistance thus far has been invaluable. 1. Insufflation von 3 l Co2-Gas is this 3 Litres? 2. Einführen eines Taststabes über eine zweiten Trokar What is a " Taststab " I have 'touch rod' but that is my invention. 3. Kleines Becken allseits glatt serosiert und frei einsehbar. What is serosiert ? 4. Das Ovar ist normal gross, mit frischeren und älteren Funktionszeichen versehen. I have 'The ovary is normal size with fresher and older signs of function' but does that make sense? Do I need to translate the word 'versehen'? 5. Darmkonvulut .......... unauffällig Is this a misspelling of 'Darmkonvolut' ? Bowel convolution........normal? 6. Die rechte Tube wird elektrisch abgesetzt. Die Tube wird durch einen 10er Trokar entfernt. Is 'amputated' the right term for 'abgesetzt' here? I can't use removed because of 'entfernt' in the second sentence 7. Jetzt Spülung des Bauchraumes I have 'abdominal space' for 'Bauchraum'. is that ok? 8. Darstellen und Anhaken der Portio mit zwei Kugelzangen. I have 'Presentation and fixing of the portio with two ball forceps.' Is there a better way of expressing this? 9. Dilatation des CK von Hegar 4 bis 10. What is 'CK' and 'Hegar'? 10. Einknopfnähte der Einstichstellen I found 'self locking knot' via google search for 'Einknopfnähte' so I have 'Self locking knot of the puncture points' Is that ok? your comments appreciated regards, Shane London Sydney Australia
Guest guest
Hi Shane: ----- Original Message ----- 1. Insufflation von 3 l Co2-Gas is this 3 Litres? --> yes 2. What is a " Taststab " I have 'touch rod' but that is my invention. --> in my technical dictionary, I found: 'Taststift' (zum Abtasten) = stylus 3. Kleines Becken allseits glatt serosiert und frei einsehbar. What is serosiert ? --> not sure - perhaps: " ueberzogen mit einer (glatten) Serosa " = covered by smooth serous membrane ? 4. Das Ovar ist normal gross, mit frischeren und älteren Funktionszeichen versehen. ---> maybe like this: 'The ovary is of normal size and shoes fresh and old signs of function' (don't know what exactly this refers to) 5. Bowel convolution........normal? ---> yes 6. Die rechte Tube wird elektrisch abgesetzt [= abgetrennt]. Die Tube wird durch einen 10er Trokar entfernt. Is 'amputated' the right term for 'abgesetzt' here? ---> yes, also: cut off, separated, ... 7. 'abdominal space' for 'Bauchraum'. is that ok? --> abdominal cavity 8. I have 'Presentation and fixing of the portio with two ball forceps.' Is there a better way of expressing this? --> [chir.] exposure and fixation ... 9. Dilatation des CK von Hegar 4 bis 10. ---> Cervikalkanal = cercical canal ---> Hegar-Stifte = Hegar's (uterine) dilators 10. Einknopfnähte der Einstichstellen ---> it should read " Einzelknopfnaht " or " Einzelnaht " (vs. " fortlaufende Naht " ) 'self locking knot' --> makes sense, but I couldn' confirm it in Dorland's under 'suture' or 'knot'. The correct translation is " interrupted suture " (one in which each stitch is made with a separate piece of material). HTH. Looks like a preparation for my next book translation :-) Ursula 'puncture points' --> I would prefer 'puncture sites'
Guest guest
Hi Shane, Just adding my late-night thoughts to Ursula's suggestions: > 4. Das Ovar ist normal gross, mit frischeren und älteren Funktionszeichen > versehen. > ---> maybe like this: > 'The ovary is of normal size and shoes fresh and old signs of function' > (don't know what exactly this refers to) ....with (both) recent and less recent signs of function / signs of functional activity. Function / functional activity meaning ova production. Good luck/night! la
Guest guest
Thanks very much for that, Ursula Those suggestions make good sense. I will be translating the last short document tomorrow night. regards, Shane Re: [M T] De > En Terms Gynäkologie - More Queries Hi Shane: ----- Original Message ----- 1. Guest guest
Thanks for that la I had no idea what function was intended but ova production would make sense. 'recent and less recent' sounds very natural. I'll use that. regards, Shane Re: [M T] De > En Terms Gynäkologie - More Queries Hi Shane, Just adding my late-night thoughts to Ursula's suggestions: > 4.
