Guest guest
Hi : I went to the website and happy to say that on all fronts, the DDL hair test on my son indicates he is not mercury poisoned. This stands to reason with what the Mayo Clinic told us. It may also be the reason why he went berzerk when we tried to chelate him with the TTFD? I am glad we did it and double checked. Thanks again for the info. Kim
Guest guest
Interesting , Antimony & Tin were the only ones that were slightly high on my son too, but using the counting rules I understand he does not need chelation. Just out of curiosity, is your son PDD, or maybe (for lack of a better word) high functioning, like my little one? Kim
Guest guest
Hi Kim... We just did Slater's hair test and the counting rules I found through the Autism-Mercury list in the files. I think it is now on a website and I'll go to the list and get that link for you in case there you are not on that list. I am going to have my NT daughter done who is exactly Slater's age-2 years old and myself too.. but have not gotten the kits ordered yet. Good luck! > Hello Listmates > > A while back, I inquired about hair testing and was advised that DDL was the > best test to get. Guest guest
Kim...here is the info I think you were wanting on interpreting hair test and this link is only for Doctor's Data test I think.. it is Andy Cutler's method which I believe Dr. McCandless mentions in her book is the method she employs also... I may be wrong but I think that is the case. http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/HOW_TO_hair_test.html#counting_rule s You can also find the link that leads to it on the Autism-Mercury list on Yahoo. Guest guest
Hi Kim... you are welcome! My son was not as high on Mercury either but was off the chart on Antimony and high on Tin. Good luck and stay in touch with us. Blessings, > Hi : > > I went to the website and happy to say that on all fronts, the DDL hair test > on my son indicates he is not mercury poisoned. Guest guest
Doctors' Data has the largest database and the best and latest equipment for doing hair tests in the world. Since Doctors Data only charges $42 for a hair test, and GPL sends it out for them to do and puts his name at the top and charges more, why not go directly to DD? I talked to Bill Shaw about this, after finding out that many of his tests go out to other labs. It was quite awhile ago that I found this out and seldom use GPL for anything other than the dysbiosis tests; this because they get it back quiker than the other labs. As I recall in our discussion, he apparently felt it was fair to mark them up since parents heard about it through him or might even have gotten the kit from him at a conference. As to mercury in sibs, I have found that too, and it was somewhat elucidated by Amy Holmes' work on baby hair, which showed that ASD babies are unable to excrete mercury the same way normal kids do. I believe now that the high levels of mercury in sibs may be that they are excreting it better, so when mercury is high on an ASD kid, we don't actually know whether they are so loaded with mercury or just excreting it the way NT kids do. For this reason I seldom even look at the excretion of toxics on the hair test (unless they are very high or very low), but only study what is happening to the minerals. This, corroborated by the RBC minerals (Meta-Metrix or Doctors Data) and what the fibrillarin and metallothionein function show on the McCandless Panel at Immunosciences, is what helps me choose who needs detoxification (TTFD or N-Acetyl Cysteine) or chelation (DMSA). I would say that I agree with this, although I would say " in theory " . In practice, I would also look at how long the child with high-mercury-on-test has gone without (known) mercury exposure. Also, did Dr Amy actually get HIGH readings for mercury, or just higher than the ASD kids? In both these points, my thinking is that excretion of mercury should not go on endlessly. > For this reason I > seldom even look at the excretion of toxics on the > hair test (unless they are very high or very low), > but only study what is happening to the minerals. Well, I believe that some mercury toxic people simply do not get messed up minerals, and these folks DO show HIGH on mercury. Also, for people with NORMAL mineral transport the " other " toxic metals may have important infomation. (And for people with ABNORMAL mineral transport, the other toxic levels may or may not be correct.) For whoever is interested (I have a hunch I'm going to be asked, so I'm answering in advance LOL.)
