Guest guest
Actually, if you can believe it, yes. Tetanus is still a fatal disease if not treated by 20 days of very painful shots and this must be done before it gets too far along. Re: Dr. McCandless-Question, please, for mydaughter > until they're starting to run around and could step on a nail, when they need > the tetanus shot. It was my understanding that all tetanus shots have thimerosal. Do you think the risk of tetanus outweighs the toxicity of thimerosal? Guest guest
I had read somewhere that it was a better idea to get your kids the new(er) DTap vaccine that DOESN'T contain thimerosal than to use the stand-alone tetanus shot. The same piece said that you should get the DTap only in case of exposure to rusty metals and such where you would think of getting a tetanus shot. Any comments? Are you saying they should have one as a precautionary measure or wait until something happens? Lynne
Guest guest
I also heard from a woman at OT last week, who is a nurse, say something to that effect. That the stand-alone shot had thimerosal, but the combo did not. Guest guest
If you wait until something happens, you have 72 hrs to get a TIG injection which is Thimerosal free (at least that was my understanding) > > Actually, if you can believe it, yes.
