Actually, if you can believe it, yes. Tetanus is still a fatal disease if not

treated by 20 days of very painful shots and this must be done before it gets

too far along.

It was my understanding that all tetanus shots have thimerosal. Do you think

the risk of tetanus outweighs the toxicity of thimerosal?

I had read somewhere that it was a better idea to get your kids the new(er)

DTap vaccine that DOESN'T contain thimerosal than to use the stand-alone

tetanus shot. The same piece said that you should get the DTap only in case of

exposure to rusty metals and such where you would think of getting a tetanus

shot.

Any comments?

My kids have never had a tetanus shot. Are you saying they should have one

as a precautionary measure or wait until something happens?

I also heard from a woman at OT last week, who is a nurse, say something to

that effect. That the stand-alone shot had thimerosal, but the combo did

not.

If you wait until something happens, you have 72 hrs to get a TIG

injection which is Thimerosal free (at least that was my

understanding)
