Guest guest
Gum chewing and the smacking/popping that accompanies it is THE biggest issue I have. I was having a lot of trouble with people chewing gum at the gym recently. I could hear them popping gum through my headphones with the music turned up! I had to change the time I went to the gym because of one person who was there and snapping that gum like their life depended on it. Do these people eat like they chew and smack on that gum like a big cow chewing its cud?? Good manners, in general, are a big 'missing' in our society these days. Subject: RE: OprahTo: Soundsensitivity Date: Thursday, October 29, 2009, 9:22 AM Oprah is very sympathetic to people who can’t stand gum chewing. I remember an episode about pet peeves where Oprah read an article from a woman who didn’t know how to tell her best friend that her gum snapping was driving her crazy. Oprah admitted that it was her biggest pet peeve and said that she did not allow anyone at Harpo Studios to chew gum. Also, interestingly, I went to a taping of “Dancing with the Stars†this week. Before the taping they asked everyone to get rid of their gum because “it looks terrible.†It was such a huge relief to be in a big venue with NOT ONE person chewing gum. I was in heaven… From: Soundsensitivity@ yahoogroups. com [mailto: Soundsensitivity@ yahoogroups. com ] On Behalf Of AmyBSent: Thursday, October 29, 2009 5:59 AMTo: Soundsensitivity@ yahoogroups. comSubject: Oprah I am a publicist by profession and I have many ideas to help us get media exposure. If I post the name and e-mail of a producer at Oprah will everyone send an e-mail to her? If we bombard them they will certainly pay attention. We can do this with other shows as well. Guest guest
I swear the minute someone pops a piece of gum in their mouth they are no longer able to shut it. The also have the need to share it with others....and chewing and showing their teeth like its all good just irritates the heck out of me. Just thinking about it gives me a headache! Guest guest
Morning Amy,That sounds like a great idea and having someone on the inside would make a huge difference to our ability to get recognized, but I have only one concern and that is jumping the gun. We will likely only have one chance to use this trump card, and once that card has been used there will be thousands if not millions of people who will have seen it, and that is exactly what we want but, if we are not ready for the reaction that will occur after it might not be as effective as we could have hoped for otherwise. Presently, there is not somewhere where the mass public can go to learn about 4s that is structured other than a few web sites that, on their own are very helpful and on the main it did bring us all here, the information in limited. Its ease of use is....lacking and I don't believe the public will put as much effort into researching and understanding this condition as we have, they dont have to deal with it.What we need is a plain website that is easy to read, understand and search through , where the information is ready when you want it and it has to be quick to find. Newspapers will get their hands on this and when they do, if they don't have a credible source to get their information from they will just get informaiton from anywhere, and most of us will remember the post to DR J article that this is a condition that " we will just grow out of " I am all up for contacting and getting this condition on Oprah, and will do everything I can to help, but, I feel hesitant in that respect until we have a solid base we can direct people towards. There will be a lot of people out there who do not believe this condition, we have already felt their wrath, but when this goes public and if there is not a credibly hub of information easily available, I believe the criticisms will be greatly increased, furthermore if we want to try and get as many 4s suffers out there to us, we need a better platform. I suggest holding this card until we are ready to let the world in conjunction with the rest of the publicity work in one big hit.Does that make sense? Thoughts? I am a publicist by profession and I have many ideas to help us get media exposure. If I post the name and e-mail of a producer at Oprah will everyone send an e-mail to her? If we bombard them they will certainly pay attention. We can do this with other shows as well.
