---,

I don't know about your state, but here in WV, the school usually

schedules an IEP (individulized education plan) for students with

special needs. My youngest had auditory processing problems AND was

gifted at the same time. And, parents can call for an IEP at any

time they feel it is neccessary.

I don't know if your state has that sort of thing, but certainly the

school board office must have someone in charge of special ed, that

can guide you.

Parents usually know what is best for the child, and you DO have

rights.

Hi,

I would call a meeting (IEP meeting) and just tell them you would

like her placed back in regular classes as she is doing so well. The

school might suggest she start slow (an hour or 2 or so or a half

day) to see how she does before putting her back in full-time. If

so, try to pin down how long this will continue before she goes full-

time.

I'm glad she is doing so well and is eager to go back to the regular

classroom!! If they were to suggest phasing her back in, tell your

daughter it is just to not overwhelm her and the school wants to be

sure she can handle it, etc., etc., that it is to her benefit.

(don't want to hurt her eagerness/self-esteem if the school doesn't

agree to go straight back to regular classes)

My son (15) has been doing well. I just have to let the

school know that I want his 504 Plan kept in place to use on an " as

needed " basis due to the waxing/waning of OCD. There is a letter in

the FILES section of this group from Dr. that you can print and

give to the school regarding keeping an IEP or 504 Plan in place in

case needed.

Could the summer program she's in write a note about how well she has

been doing?
