Don't worry about bragging. Your good news encourages the rest of us!!!

Keep it coming.

Where in TX? We live south of Houston in the swamps with abundant

wildlife.

in Texas,

Many thanks for that update. I would assume that when your child is doing so

well with OCD, it might not be as compelling to post on the site, so those of us

who are still struggling a lot, do appreciate you taking the time to give us

positive news.

Hi and all the other wonderful people I've met on this list over the

past five years. I haven't posted in quite a while but wanted to bring you up

to date on our lives. Unfortunately, Bill, and I will not be going to

the conference this year. Our first year at the conference was in Chicago

about

5 years ago and we've been going to them every year since then. We will very

much miss being there this July. It has been a very busy year for

us.....moving from New York to Texas in December....and graduating from

HS in June

2004 and starting college here. The good news is that is doing really

well with the move and adjusting to college..he started in January. For those

of you who don't know us, was diagnosed at 7 with severe OCD and has

struggled throughout his school years with periods of non attendance, home

tutoring, combination in school and at home schooling since that time...with

intensive erp when he was 11 at Dr. Foa's clinic in PA. It has been a long

road for

him with lots of work to get where he is right now. He has managed to start

college (and do all the work himself with no supports...his request.....and

get

a 4.0), get his license and drive himself everywhere, make new friends and

manage his OCD. This isn't bragging and I'm furiously knocking on wood

because

we all know what happens the minute we say things are going well, but just

letting all of you out there who are struggling with children in the same

position, know that there is light in the sometimes darkest feelings you might

have

during the bad times. He hasn't had a major crash since after 9/11 and in

retrospect it was shorter in duration than had been in the past. We have

found two

wonderful doctors here in Texas... a psychologist and psychiatrist ... so I

feel a lot better and more settled having done that.

Our thoughts will be with all of you in Chicago and hopefully, we'll see you

next year.

HI Cristey,

We live in Southwest Houston and I now realize that the thing in the back of

our house that was called a " creek " by our real estate agent is in reality a

swamp with alligators, snakes and all sorts of unimaginable creatures that I

hope I never meet. This is all new to me comig from NYC. seems fine

with all this though, even when he has to fish the frogs and crawfish out of

the pool before going in. I could never have imagined him doing this a few

years ago.

Where in south Houston do you live? How old is your OCD child? You can

email me privately if you would like.

Dear ,

Thank you for your comments. I am trying to keep up with my emails now that

things are settling down a bit in our lives. I know what a help it has been

for me over the years..... being able to talk to other people who are going

through the same things and who truly understand what life with OCD means.

Thank goodness for the Internet and groups like this!

Take care,

/TX

, Love that 'creek' line!! !;-)

Yes we're familiar with alligators; we had nine in our pond at one time

and last summer one was traipsing across our front yard. And yes

snakes...mainly corals and pit vipers. I have six kids and when they

tromp in the tall grass/pasture, etc. we require them to wear rubber

boots. We live very near the Brazos Bend State Park...30minutes from

SugarLand.

My 12 yr old daughter was diagnosed in early May with OCD with intrusive

thoughts/scrupulosity. She is on Prozac and Klonopin. I'm hoping she

can soon begin weaning off the Klonopin. She is dramatically improved

compared to two months ago! She says she feels about 80%. Here psychdoc

is in SugarLand--Dr. .

Forgive me...I inadvertently was unsubbed from my yahoo groups...happens

about once a week. Anyway, I missed alot. So give me the whole

rigamarole about you and your son.

Blessings,

cristey
