Guest guest
First of all, thank you Kathy in Indiana and thank you to the others that responded to my post about PANDAS protocol. I only have a minute, but I thought this would be interesting to some of you. My son just had another extensive set of tests done. His stool sample came back showing off-the-chart alpha haemolytic streptoccus and gamma haemolytic streptococcus in his gut. He had been on amoxycillin for almost a month straight and had only been off of it five days when I collected the stool sample. The lab only tests up to a certain level and he was beyond that so there's no telling how much he has. This isn't the exact strain of strep that causes a sore throat but by doc thinks that it is still creating a neurological effect. I am transcribing my last visit with her (I tape all my visits) and can tell you more if you're interested. My son also has high levels of heavy metals, primarily cadmium. That has got to be contributing to his problems. Thanks again for your responses to my previous post on PANDAS. My ENT (different doc than I referred to above) is doing more research and is posting questions about PANDAS protocol on her internet forum for ENTs. She wants to hear from her peers about it. Also, she said that there was just a study at Mayo about the benefit of tonsillectomy in PANDAS kids. My son had his tonsils/adenoids out on August 18. He was the WORST ever for the next two weeks, then he made an unbelievable improvement over the next three days. He's so much better now. Don't know exactly if it was the tonsillectomy, but the timing seems to correlate. Gotta run. Kim
