my 7 year old is suffering from 4s symptoms. chewing, whispering, clinging of

dishes, typing, etc. She is diagnosed with add and all audiology reports are

normal. These symptoms are worse in quiet settings, such as the dinner table

and the car. I have 3 other children who are being yelled at constantly because

of their unknowing sounds. My daugter is unable to control her outbursts as a

result of her hatred of the above mentioned sounds due to her age. I am

searching for info on a service provider for children.

My daughter is 10 and suffers from 4s as well. Sounds of hand rubbing, brushing hair, and just about any sound produced by touch of hands against any surface triggers her emotion, anger, outbursts, etc. She'scurrently seeing a Psychologist to help deal with emotions; He has heard of the sound sensitivity symptoms but like most doctors, knows nothing about the real cause or of any treatment. She takes medication for anxiety but so far with no relief. Her Pediatrician doesn't seem to know much either. I even mentioned it to the ENT, as she is a sinus sufferer and he knew nothing, just suggested to have her hearing checked. I have been recently giving her B vitamin supplement; it helps the nervous system and helps with anxiety.

Thanks for your input. This is all new to us but now that we all know she's not alone and there are others, she herself feels a bit less stressed and we have reassured her that it is not her fault. But it gets difficult, she has not yet learned to "walk" away and outbursts are hard, specially on a smaller sibbling. I think a key point would be to keep communication open with the whole family, teachers, etc.

My son is 11 years old and has been suffering for approx. 4 years. Things that have worked for us is as follows:Eating off plastic plates no china or glass to make that banging soundHaving him eat before the rest of the familyRecognizing that it is not his faultKeeping him on a diet that is as natural as possible. (no corn syrup, red dyes, yellow dyes, etc.)Keeping him on a schedule. Summer has been difficult but now that school has started he is dealing a lot better. He takes supplements Fish oil, B complex, magnesium and a fiber supplement all of which seems to help him to stay calm. We also visit a chiropractor/ kinnesiologist - This gets him back in balance Outburst only occur when he is over tired, over stressed, or over stimulated from too much sugarHe realizes when to walk away and now we know not to yell. It keeps us all a lot happier. It is sad at times that he

spends so much time in his room but he is happier. Good luck. help for my daughter> > > my 7 year old is suffering from 4s symptoms. chewing, > whispering, clinging of dishes, typing, etc. She is diagnosed > with add and all audiology reports are normal.
