Guest guest
Hi, Yes my son has thyroid issues, diagnosed when age 4, he is now 12. Are you sure the TSH is low? That would indicate an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroid). A high TSH would indicate an underactive thyroid (hypOthyroid). My son is hypo and responded well to treatment ( we use natural dessicated thyroid called Armour Thyroid ). It will be difficult to find a doctor to treat if it is not too far out of range. Get the labs checked again with a full panel(free T4 and free T3 along with autoantibodies.) Feel free to write me offline for more info - I am running out the door right now! He probably needs treatment if he has nodules. > > Does anyone else here in the Houston area have a kiddo on the spectrum and has thyroid problems? > > Just got labs back on DS: low TSH and low Vitamin D. He also has a slightly enlarged thyroid. Docs have found the slightly enlarged thyroid for the past two years but no one would do the labs until now. Doc forgot to ask for T3 (T4 is within normal limits). I'm thinking about getting the T3 done on my own before next labs are ordered for three months from now. This might explain some problems with school.... > > We are taking the methylated vitamin B6, B12 and Vitamin D. > > On a side note, DS has a lump on his leg times about 2 weeks that really isn't resolving. Ortho doc is watching it, and I'm concerned that it's related to the thyroid issues. > > We're going on day 2 where he's up til about 2 in the morning pratically vibrating all day long. > > If anyone has any experience, suggestions, or doc recommendations here in Houston I'd appreciate it. > > Thanks > > ~Crystal >
