Guest guest
Hi everyone! I'm Bev. I live in Redding, CA. I just discovered your group last night when I did a search for Keshishian under the Yahoo groups. I think it's great to keep in touch with other ds-ers. I had my ds with Dr. K in Sept. of 2001. So I'm 18 months out. I'm doing great. I've lost 130 lbs. I still want to lose another 80 lbs and it's going so slow now, I'm not sure when I'm going to get to goal. I'm 48, 5'4, and now weigh 218...I started out at 348. I'd like to get to 140. I exercise regularly. I'll be seeing Dr. K on 4/4 in Ukiah. I'm single and could use all the support I can get. ;-) I live with a lot of physical pain because I have diabetic neuropathy which is burning/freezing/ numbness and pain in my feet and legs... (due to poor circulation and/or nerve damage) this is extremely annoying. I also had back surgery over a decade ago and still have back pain daily. So I take anti-inflamatories for these problems. Well, that's my short story. I'm working towards a leaner, healthier future that's pain free and not so single. Can anyone relate to me? Also, I was married for a long time (a long time ago) and am now divorced and have an 18 year old son. He's fabulous. > Just wanted to welcome (a new) Bev to the group! Glad you're here! > > Elle **

I would like to be 157. I exercise sorta regular, I do Curves 2-3 times a week and walk 30 min on my treadmill 2-3 times a week. Other than that I work in a bank standing all day and lifting boxes of coin etc. and play hard. I am not sure I will ever see 157, but if I get to 180 I will be happy. I will be 48 next month and am 5'4 " (on a good day, lol) I have 2 boys, one 25, and one 22. One 6' and one6'4...now if I was that tall, I would already be at goal! lol And one very special support person, and love of my life (oh yea and husband) Mike. Dont get discouraged, not easy for me to say, just hang in here with me and lets see what this year brings... let us know what Dr K says next month...I would like to know... Guest guest
Hi Sharon, Thanks for the warm welcome! I appreciate it. It sounds like we do have a lot in common here. I also work out at Curves and have all kinds of exercise equipment at home--which sometimes gets used and other times not...LOL I can eat a lot more than I used to, so I need to be careful about what I eat--and I haven't been doing so good with that lately. I'll let you all know what Dr. K says after I see him. Take care. And again, if anyone is going to Ukiah to see Dr. K on the 4th of April, let me know...we can meet. Guest guest
Hey Elle! I didn't know you met your hubby online! So did I! Bev, I definitely recommend this method! It gave Andy and myself several weeks to write to each other before meeting and get to know each other's personalities first. Then we spoke on the phone for a few weeks. When we met in person, we were already halfway in love! Best of luck to you in your search. There ARE great guys out there! I'm lucky enough to have one of them for my own. Guest guest
You were lucky to find Dr. K...we all were!! Hey everyone, is there ever a " get-together " of Dr. K's patients from different places? Where I am in Redding, there are just under a dozen of his patients in a small town about 30 minutes away. I wonder if there are annual reunions? -- Bev > In a message dated 3/20/2003 6:43:05 PM Central Standard Time, > beverly@j... writes: > > > Hey in Alabama, wow, did you come all the way out here for your ds > > with Dr. K??? Louisiana, New Jersey, etc...It was great..and if you include Kristy from Australia too. Although she was going home to Australia and was here for a while... But I digress. We are planning it again for this summer and it should be a blast again...lots of friends, food, and fun. Cant wait. And you are invited! Guest guest
Hey Ann, Thanks for the welcome! Thank goodness you can relate to me! So many people just don't understand the neuropathy--it's horrible. I keep trying diffferent meds because so many of them make me tired or weak, which makes it very difficult to keep up the exercise. But I find that exercise itself is very good for me and for keeping the neuropathy symptoms manageable. Take care. --Bev > Hi Bev from Redding! > > Welcome aboard! Take care. --Bev Hi Bev! The burning, tingling, pins-and-needles pain of neuropathy defies description to someone who hasn't lived with it. I, too, have trouble continuing my exercise with the neuropathy and with the back pain. Sometimes I do very well for a time, then I move backwards and ruin it all -- and it is so hard to make myself start again! Exercise is excellent for helping keep the symptoms manageable, as you say! I WILL do better today! LOL Hugs and blessings, Ann
