Hello to all my wounderful friends,

I am having a hard time getting my son to potty train as we all know it is not an easy task. When he was 3 he was useing the potty pretty well but then he started his first yr of preschool and all the progress we made all went away. Im sure it was because of chance in his daily routine. We have been working with him for the past 3 yrs. He has peed on the potty for school but not for me. If you have any tips i would love to read them.

Thank you Lesley

Big thing for Zach (and I don't know why) was peeing standing up. I

think the thought of having to remove his pants, and putting his booty

on the cold, hard, seat were enough of a deterrent.

I do have a book about Potty training, and it seems like there are two

potential problems:

1. undersensing or not being able to determine when they have to

potty-the suggestion is to build it into a routine so going potty is

more by habit than desire.

2. Sensory overload in the bathroom-in which case you would need to

figure out what that is-is a wet diaper/pants comforting? Is the

house bathroom too cold, too bright, too loud, etc.?

We just night trained over the summer and it's amazing to be diaper free!!

Hi everyone,

We're now toilet-training our 4.6 yrs old son, we're trying to make

him express his need to go, and he does sometimes. He is now dry at

daytime at home and school, but doesn't go to toilet in any other

place. " still working on that, and don't know how to convince him to

pee while standing up so he can do it anywhere " .

We put a diaper for him at night, and he usually wakes up with a

heavy diaper, how can we toilet-train him at night? " we're delaying

it till summer, it's really cold here at night that I wouldn't take

the poor kid out of bed! " .

Thanks

Good luck to you!

I wish I had some great words of wisdom, but truth of the matter is

Zach decided he didn't want to wear diapers at night, so we just

started getting him up to go to bathroom in the middle of the night-it

was very difficult and I was washing sheets every day for what seemed

like forever (maybe a few months).

It seemed like one night, he just got it. I do think a big motivation

for him was he hates having we clothes.

Devin hates wet clothes to maybe i should let him feel the wetness and then he might want to use the potty more.

See you were a big help. Smile.

Hi! Happy new year! I can only relate to boys. My husband worked

with my son and did racing games. He brought our son into the

bathroom with him to show him what he needs to do. Amazing it

worked. My son may be low functioning but we had him potty trained

by the time he was four. He never yet has had a accident at night

and he is seven now. My problem is bowel movements. When he is very

anxious and doesnt know what to expect at a unfamilar situation he

has diahrea. He does tell us he has to go to the bathroom but by the

time he realizes that he has to go he has a explosion. this does not

happen often but it does. So that is the only time we have accidents

Good look. Kathy
