Guest guest
I think Pro-rated means divided proportionally according to the patient's participation or other eventualities or contingencies (as a relative staying overnight). For example, the compensation might be pro-rated if a patient withdraws earlier from the study. Regards, Fernanda Buenos Aires, Argentina. Pro-rated Dear listmates, Could you please enlighten me as to what " PRO-RATED " means in a note to a draft informed consent form: INSERT ***PRO-RATED*** PATIENT PAYMENT INFORMATION HERE The preceding paragraph stated, among other items: " You will be compensated for all reasonable costs for your participation in this trial. If your preference is to stay overnight near XXX then YYY will pay this cost. In your case it could refer to the fact that the cost for the participation in the trial will be shared beetween the patient and the sponsor of the trial. Guest guest
Prorating implies percent, e.g., if you are given a rate of $100 per day, you will receive a prorate of $50 for half a day, etc. Ken At 05:24 AM 8/22/2004, you wrote: >Dear listmates, > >Could you please enlighten me as to what " PRO-RATED " means in a note to a >draft informed consent form: > >INSERT ***PRO-RATED*** PATIENT PAYMENT INFORMATION HERE > >The preceding paragraph stated, among other items: > " You will be compensated for all reasonable costs for your participation in >this trial. Guest guest
This is often used when the rental charge for something is normally expressed as a charge per month, but an allowance is made for a customer who doesn't need the item for an entire month. In this case, the monthly charge is divided by the number of days in the month to arrive at a charge per day. Then the bill to the customer is pro-rated, with the charge per day multiplied by the actual number of days the item was rented to arrive at a total charge to the customer. In any case, the meaning behind it is that a special calculation is done to ensure a fair deal for both parties while allowing flexibility in the execution of the contract.
