Guest guest
Hi Abijann, I have been home for a week now. I had to stay at the transplant center for a month after the transplant. I am taking my pills, you know how that goes, about a million of them a day, lol... I had two episodes of rejection, which upset me. They had to put in a stent, which was not a pleasant experience, nor are the constant liver biopsies. This transplant center is a little biopsy crazy, lol...all of the other transplant patients there agreee with me. So, I went for blood work locally, and I had to freeze the tube the night before, as the transplant center wanted to run certain tests at their own lab. Other vials of blood, had to be sent in a regular box, (not frozen), to them also. My liver enzymes were pretty elevated, so I can only hope that they are lower with this last draw. My bilirubin is excellent, where it had been high after the transplant, and they do admit that I am in the " theraputic range " , so I hope that my other levels are down also. It did feel good to have my surgical staples removed. I lost count at 180 staples...the surgeon must have overlapped some of the staples, so now I have some deep incisions that occurred when they removed them. They have to be packed, and cleaned every day...ouch.... Please feel free to email me personally at: classicalgass71@.... Best wishes, Jeanne
Guest guest
> I haven't heard from you for quite a while. I hope you are doing > okay. Please reply. Hi Abijann & All, Sorry that I haven't been posting very much. I am still healing, and busy with having my blood draws, doctor visits, etc. It has been a long road, but I can only feel that I am on the right path. I am so grateful to have this new liver. Hopefully, I won't have any more rejetion episodes. I am still losing a lot of fluid/water buildup that I had due to my old liver malfunctioning. This will take time also. I hope that all of you are doing well. Don't see a lot of posting. I go once a week for a blood draw. I have to submit one frozen tube to the transplant center for them to process, (I have to overnight this speciment by Federal Express Overnight service.). Then I have to mail the transplant center a box with another tube, (doesn't have to be frozen), for them to process, and then the let the lab process the other 6 vials. After December 1st, I will only go once a month for bloodwork. Should any of you have any questions about the transplant process, please do not hesitate to post to me. I am going to remain a member of the group, so that I can help others who are seeking a transplant. I'm not a doctor, but I can tell them of my experiences. Best Wishes.. A special hello to my friend Abijann!!! You are so sweet! Jeanne
Guest guest
Hi Abijann, I am so sorry to hear about your brother, and I will keep him in my prayers. I hope that your computer is holding out. I love to hear from you. I did have some complications, post transplant also. Three episodes of rejection, and they had to put in a liver stent, because my bile ducts did not match up with my donors. Plus, I had two very painful liver biopsies. The surgeon also failed to put in a drain, and I was leaking my ascites fluid all over, everywhere that I went. I had to pack myself with beach towels, and pads, and still I left puddles of fluid everywhere. It was terrible! Yes, I definitely feel more energetic. The anti rejection pills are creating havoc with my stomach. I'm constantly nauseous, (I don't handle taking pills very well), and I have all but lost my appetite. But, I am glad to be alive. Especially, when I was only given about two hours to live, when I arrived at the transplant center. Emotionally, there are battles to be fought too. I probably need to find a support group, who talks about post transplant feelings. Do you go to one? The surgery lasted 7 hours. I still am very unstable on my feet, but I think that I'm getting a little better everyday. This week, it was two months, since I received the transplant. My husband, was thrilled that I received an organ. He saw how bad that I had become, and he said now, that he was just watching me die. That was very scary for him to handle. He has been a wonderful support for me, as well as , (my adopted Daughter), who is helping me out now. I have been lucky to have many friends who have helped me. I have received so many cards, and gifts. I'm getting quite spoiled, lol... Talk to you soon... Feel good... Best Wishes, Jeanne
