Theresa (or Jaquelyn)-

Could you possibly point me in the direction of any evidence or other

information about bipolar children and what causes it or biomedical

treatments? I have a friend with a bipolar 7yo boy. His meds are not working

anymore and she herself is going on a gluten-free diet, in part because of

her always-distended abdomen and in part because I've told her that her

auto-immune problems might be helped by it. I've long suspected her family

could be helped by the diet, but don't know of any good papers about any

connection between diet and bipolar. They've pretty much hit bottom and are

ready to try other avenues than medication.

Anyone else with ideas is welcome to respond.

Hi Liz,

On two different occasions (at one DAN and at one smaller conference),

I heard Dr. Hardy state that omega oils can be helpful for

bipolar disorder. You might check and see if Dr. Hardy has a website

or try to call his office for more information. I believe it is Hardy

Healthcare Associates. I'm not sure the location but a bit of surfing

should locate it. Good luck,

Mom of C and D

I googled him, and found links, but nothing in the way of actual papers he'd

written or anything other than " add EFAs. " I've written to him, and we'll

see if I get any response.

He wrote back right away and said he will talk to the parents for free for a

ten-minute initial consultation. We'll see what they decide. Thanks for the

info.
