Hi all!

I think I posted, but may have done it wrong. I'd like to introduce myself and

ask for help. My 15 year old daugther has 4S (I diagnosed after reading about

it here). She has been struggling with it for months now. It seems to be mostly

focused at her Dad - who is a loud eater and eats often. He has tried to be

quieter but gets frustrated with her reactions when he eats. I'm trying to

mediate and its proving nightmarish.

What we have done:

Her dad warns her when he is going to eat

She either puts the TV headphones on or leaves the room

She puts a pillow up so she can't see him eating

I am more sensitive to eating around her and have noticed how mindlessly I eat

(so it's been good for me in a wierd way)

Going to go out and see if I can find good plastic silverware that might help

reduce the silverware hitting the plate sound that seems to travel to her in the

other room.

Fixing up her bedroom so she has a Safe Sanctuary she can retreat to

Have asked her to compromoise on who leaves the room when (not always us and not

always her)

Questions:

What is White noise? Pink Noise? Is it something she can use when she is at

school?

Is there any reason to take her to an Audiologist?

Has anyone tried EFT to see if it helps?

She has an appt with her naturopathic physician tomorrow and I'm going to ask

about the thyroid.

I also heard magnesium may help, any suggestions on a brand or easier way to

take it? She hates liquid. The pills I have are huge. Right now she was given so

many vitamins/natural supplements to take that she has resisted taking any.....

My daughter also has vocal cord disfunction, anxiety-panic attacks, acid reflux,

and ADD. She has been seeing a counselor and has learned some breathing

techniques which sometimes help.

I am looking into a meditation class for both of us to take.

I am open to any and all suggestions advice whatever. I so despertly want to

help her but feel so frustrated and helpless.

Thank you,

Kim
