Guest guest
Dr. McC and list mates, My husband and I are doing this diet to " cleans " ourselves starting Jan 2nd. Is this the complete diet or am I missing a part? I am planning to go right into SugarBusters! on day 13. Thanks, Marla (Who plans to focus on her well being for a change!) For three days, eat only steamed vegetables (not the starchy kinds) and drink lots of filtered (or bottled) water. For three days, eat only Bieler soup: Recipe: 1 bunch of celery with leaves, just cutting off any brown spots and the bottom inch or so. 1 bunch of Italian parsley 5 medium sized zucchini 1 pound of green beans Steam with a small amount of water until cellulose fiber is just broken down. After this for three days, ONLY drink filtered water. The yeast will scream, yell, cry, throw fits, and come to the surface of your gut looking for food, and will die in droves. They cannot live without food, and the preparation is to wean you into the fast with getting your liver in great shape to handle the detoxification. After the three days of fasting, go back onto just steamed vegetables for three days, and only then gradually get back into your regular foods. OF COURSE, THIS MEANS NOOOOOO REFINED SUGAR OF ANY KIND, AND THE FRUITS ONLY THAT WE RECOMMEND FOR THE KIDS, with very little " white " foods: bread, pasta, pastry. Guest guest
That's the diet. FYI, since doing a modified version of this diet (I had the flu, didn't eat for 2 days, ate Bieler soup for one, then went back to eating), I have had no trouble with yeast, with the exception that I've been making a complete pig of myself in the last two days, eating tons of sugar and everything else, including some wheat and dairy, and I had a mild case of diarrhea this morning. But that could also be attributed to getting my period, which, BTW, is completely pain-free so far, which has happened maybe three times in my life. *No* PMS whatsoever, also, which has NEVER happened. I take it back. I did start having mild yeast symptoms several days ago, and cleared it up within an hour of taking a small dose of GSE and a capsule of oil of oregano, neither of which ever worked for me before, either alone or in concert. So do this diet-it works like I never expected it could, having tried pretty much everything else with no success. Having lost all the weight I ever wanted to, I was worried that I wouldn't ever be able to build muscle again, because to do that, I had to eat more carbs so I could work out without feeling like I was going to pass out, and eating more carbs meant suffering with horrible yeast. I am finally back to going to the gym, and I feel better than I have since before I had children. Actually, probably better than I have felt since puberty. Dr. McCandless' diet has saved my quality of life, and I no longer have to pretend to be ok, soldiering through the day instead of truly enjoying it. This has been the best Christmas with my family ever. Got carried away again-sorry so long! Guest guest
Marla: Liz has already answered, and yes, this is the right sequence. I would only add that it would be good to do exercise such as walking daily while on the diet; I would avoid exhausting, vigorous activity however. Guest guest
Yesterday was day one and I was grumpy and hungry. I had a splitting, all over, headache all day. Today down 5 lbs and very slight headache in a different area. Over all I feel good but my husband on the other had heartburn last night and said everything tastes like acid and he is begging for a cheeseburger and chicken wings. I have been mentally preparing myself for this but BOY it is hard. Marla
Guest guest
Marla, I know the headache is awful. I got the yeast die-off while I had the flu, and it was excruciating. But better days are ahead. Drink, drink, drink that water. Liz > Yesterday was day one and I was grumpy and hungry. I had a > splitting, all over, headache all day. Guest guest
Liz, When you say you lost all the weight you wanted to, did that happen while on the diet, or do you mean that you lost weight in a different manner? I want to do this diet so bad since Dr. McCandless first put it on the list but I am so scared because I get HORRIBLE migraines when I don't eat. The 3 days of water is what scares me. (It detoxifies the junk from die off). Of course, I don't know if it is die off causing your headaches, but that seemed to be the idea..? good wishes, Moria
Guest guest
I lost a total of 70 lbs. The first 40 or so was from eliminating gluten (I was already casein-free). The next thing I did was to cut way back on carbs, to try to kill off the yeast, and lost another 20 or so lbs. The last thing was the flu/yeast elimination diet. I lost 10 lbs. I thought I'd gain back all that last 10 lbs., but so far, I've only put on a couple of " holiday " pounds, which I'm sure will come off after I get back into my gym routine, which I was unable to continue with the low-carb diet I was on. Since I was also sick, I'm probably not a good indicator of typical results. I wouldn't consider the yeast-elimination diet a weight-loss diet so much as a diet that helps you feel so much better you aren't tempted to eat to make yourself feel better. I suppose if you're as overweight as I was a couple of years ago, the yeast-elimination diet would let you drop 10 or 20 pounds pretty quickly, but it's too drastic to use for sustainable weight loss. I know that in the throes of a yeast die-off things look pretty bleak, but my gut is so much happier now, I can't recommend it enough. The best part is waking up refreshed instead of exhausted, which is how yeast made me feel. I was always tired, and always hungry. Even when I was eating very low carb, the yeast managed to survive. I can now forget about food for hours and have plenty of energy. I forgot to mention this completely. Even if it isn't yeast, the charcoal absorbs toxins (which are likely to be getting released if you're burning fat) and makes you feel better. Guest guest
Well my husband quit about 2:30 am by eating a bag of Jr.s organic potato chips beginning day three. My tss (staff support) quit on half of day three. I felt on day three like my body was not in itself but after I ate veggies it was alright. This morning started early and I didn't eat until lunch and boy did I have a pain in the stomach half the day. I did buy the activated charcoal and have been taking it now and then, just in case. I am hanging in and dreading the thought of eating that soup tomorrow but if I make it through it, I will be half way there. Water then steamed veggies again.... I'm 12 lbs. down and very TRIED, not sure if I can make it. I'll see if I get my energy back after a good night's sleep. The full moon is KILLING us. Jr. is off the wall and on my nerve! Thanks for listening and your support, Marla P.S. After I read how bad I sound in the above I guess I should say that my skin coloring and my hair seem a lot better looking (guessing from the water). My sinuses have been at a 7 for weeks and this morning they were maybe between a 2-3. > Dr. McC and list mates, > > My husband and I are doing this diet to " clean " ourselves starting > Jan 2nd. Guest guest
Hi, Marla Jo, I meant to write to you off-list today and ask how it's going. Twelve pounds?? I hope you have enough to lose, becasue it comes off even faster when you're fasting. I found the soup part easier than the veggies. I pureed the soup, and found it very soothing and filling. Hang in there, I'm pulling for you! Guest guest
Marla: Congratulations, I'm so proud of you (and Liz)! Actually you could eat fresh veggies but they are a little harder to digest than lightly steamed, and you need to treat your gut lovingly right now. Best wishes, Jaquelyn Re: OT: Yeast Elimination Diet List mates, Well I made it passed day six but couldn't stand to eat the soup. I threw it in a blender and drank it in a big fancy mug. Pretty Good. Lost 18lbs and I really didn't have to move my gut to look at the scale!! Today is the second day of water (a lot of water I was drinking 9 glasses before and I am so thirsty yesterday I doubled it and really not peeing anymore). The water going a lot better then I expected but my body is so VERY tired and it feels heavy almost drained. Now I am wondering about eating those damn veggies. I know I could handle fresh a lot better than steamed but that's not the rules. Thanks, Marla P.S. I was buying meat and chicken at Whole Foods yesterday and the seafood section was making me sick. I was like someone was holding a big old piece of fish under my nose. Yuck!! Today began that time of the month and I didn't even think about or have that have to have a piece of chocolate. What is happening to me ??????????? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Guest guest
Wow! I should promote this as the McCandless Sure-Fire Weight Loss Method! I myself have never done the 12 day stint or I might disappear (since I have never had yeast or gut problems and am genetically tall and skinny anyway) but do the Bieler Soup 3-dayer occasionally as a liver cleanse. Congratulations!! Jaquelyn Re: OT: Yeast Elimination Diet I DID IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 23lbs later, I did it. This was the hardest thing I have ever done and unless yeast was coming out of every hole in my body I am proud to say that I will never do it again! Labor was a hard 19 hours but this was 12 days of mental and physical ... I don't know what to call it. I literally took it day by day. Sometimes I wanted to quit but I didn't want to eat anything else so I pushed on. It was like a mini Survivor. I think the worst days were 3, 6, 9, and 12. I am proud of myself for taking care of me and I know my body is feeling better. Now, off to SUGARBUSTERS! Thanks for all of your support, Marla P.S. The acid taste lasted for one day then it was gone. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Guest guest
Congratulations! You rock. And Marla- Are all your yeast symptoms gone? I'll be interested to see if, like me, you can now tolerate a small amount of things that you couldn't tolerate before the diet. Please keep at least me informed.
