Guest guest
I loved reading about all the uses for peroxide! I'm a Dental Hygienist and my patients have taught me a lot about peroxide. When I was in Dental Hygiene school I was told the waterpik was outdated and not used much anymore. Then when I started working I noticed many elderly patients who had great oral hygiene. I asked them if they were flossing after looking at their arthritic fingers. They said, " No we use 1/2 peroxide to 1/2 water in our waterpiks! " They had no signs of gum disease. Gum disease is related now to stroke and heart attacks big time! I know peroxide is H2O2 which means it has more oxygen. Many bacteria that causes disease/illness is anaerobic which means is cannot live in the presence of oxygen. So peroxide kills many of the bacteria that can make us sick! Carbamide peroxide is also what is used in the whitening bleach you get from you Dentist ;-)! Interesting!! Grandma was right! This is a great idea. My dentist just suggested that I get a Shower Pik. Apparently you hook it up to your shower head so you can do it more easily every day and not worry about making a mess. I'll be sure to try it with the hp. Thanks, Lynne
Guest guest
> I loved reading about all the uses for peroxide! well, there are many many more. Here are many uses: http://healingtools.tripod.com/H2O2.html > I'm a Dental Hygienist and my patients have taught me a lot about peroxide. since you are a dental professional, you might find this of interest? It is a list about a dental device (used by dentists) that uses ozone to treat cavities and other dental problems. (Not available in the US, apparently mostly used in the UK.) (Ozone is not the same as H202, but it is related....) http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/healozone/ > When I was in Dental Hygiene school I was told the waterpik was outdated and > not used much anymore. Peroxide is amazing stuff. It is one of the great great killers of pathogens. There are lots of people who use it for healing -- in many forms. (I read a couple of lists about it.....) > Carbamide peroxide is also what is used in the whitening bleach you get from > you Dentist ;-)! I thought it was (more concentrated) hydrogen peroxide that was used for that. Do you happen to know why carbamide peroxide is used instead? BTW, sorry to reply so slow to this message--- I wrote the first version of this several days ago and yahoo made me log in again and " lost " my post (grrrr --- I hate that!) good wishes, Moria
