Here is a copy of the email I sent to my mom, sister and brother.

Holiday Wish List

This year I have a different kind of gift that I would like to

receive. I would like each of you to simply join the Sound

Sensitivity email support group for one month and make at least one

posting from your perspective on growing up and dealing with a 4S

family member. Here is the link to join the group:

You may have to write a brief description as to why you want to join

the group. I would have you simply state that you have a close family

member with 4S and you are trying to get a better understanding of

her condition.

Now you may get up to 20 emails a day from the group. Read what you

feel like, but I would more than appreciate the effort.

Obviously I am asking you to do this because I feel a lack of

understanding and consideration from my family. I have a hard time

speaking up for myself because that 'Just get over it message' fires

right into my soul and crushes my spirit. I want you to see that I am

not making up my hearing issues, how you can help me cope better, and

what 4S is about and how hard it is to live with.

My goal is that if I ask you to not make a certain noise, you will

meet my request with understanding and not take it personally. I wish

dad did email so he could participate as well.

I was hoping that you could join ASAP so that we can talk face to

face when you come down for the holidays about what you learned and

experienced.

Again, no gifts (material) for christmas, all I want is for you to do

this for me for one month!!!

Please respond once you have signed up so I can make sure you did not

have any problems!

I love you and want to improve our relationships, not make family

people that I have to hide from!! I really look forward to seeing you

on the message board!!
