Guest guest
You said it beautifully, Kassia! Awareness is the key! Thanks! Re: OT- Relationship with Food. To: exercisevideos Date: Friday, February 18, 2011, 10:50 AM So interesting, thanks for sharing all this Kassia. I now feel less guilty that I sometimes forget to take my vitamin. I am really good with fruits and beans (I mostly eat vegetarian during the week and rely on beans, lentils, etc. for my main meals) need to be better w/ green leafy veggies. I 'm not sure why I struggle w/ green leafy veggies, b/c I do enjoy them - I guess they are just not easy to eat on the run - although, why not just munch on whole leaves of spinach or romaine lettuce like a bunny? Hmm... I should add a salad in every day. Donna
Guest guest
Hi!I need to get better at doing that again, too. I do like the taste of greens, no dressing is even necessary - so you would think I would just eat the darn stuff! :)Donna To: exercisevideos Sent: Fri, February 18, 2011 11:23:02 AMSubject: Re: OT- Relationship with Food. Donna, veggies for me are the easiest thing for me to eat on the run. I make veggie packs on Sundays when I make food for the week. I cut up carrots, celery and radishes and put them in tupperware containers. If on the go you could put them in ziplock bags too and put in your purse.I also love spinach, just plain. You can buy baby spinach in a bag that's all ready to go, though it cheaper to buy it fresh and cut it up yourself, which is what I've started to do because I'm broke! Guest guest
For me the veggies are a no brainer because I was vegetarian for 12 years and vegan for 1.5 years. I love veggies, and they give me loads of energy. What I have to force myself to eat more of is protein. I really don't enjoy meat all that much and while I like protein shakes, one a day is about my limit. I'm happy to say I get 100% of my daily carb, fat, salt and alcohol requirements in. Guest guest
legumes you can get plenty of protein but you do have to pair it with another plant protein source to get a complete amino acid building protein. plus you get some from dairy, if you like yogurt! i was surprised that unless we are athletically trained we don't need more the .8-1 gram of protein per pound of body weight per day. i usually do pretty well in that department without extra help but i do keep my supplements close by if it was been a tougher workout kind of day and i need the extra boost. Guest guest
Interesting re: protein. I think noted something the same. Personally, I don't do well with a lot of "animal" protein - meat gives me heartburn! I do eat yogurt daily though - I love my Greek yogurt with frozen berries(I sometimes make my own by using plain regular yogurt and straining it through cheesecltoh - it works out slightly cheaper than buying Greek yogurt in the store). During the week I tend to eat the same pattern of foods - breakfast is usually coffee & a peanut butter & jelly (light on the jelly, sometimes no jelly) or pb and banana on whole grain bread; at work I have lots of "mini" meals - mostly fruit, yogurt, cheese (string cheese or baby bell), when I'm good I also bring in cut up veggies - mostly carrots and pea pods, dinner is usually some type of bean dish or vegetarisn (lentils, beans)stew or soup w/ rice. Other veggies are usually in the stew or soup - but I do need to get more leafy greens in and I am not sure why I don't b/c I enjoy them. I seriously can eat raw spinach and mixed greens w/out dressing b/c I like the taste. I think my goal is going to be to add in a salad a day. Take care!Donna To: exercisevideos Sent: Fri, February 18, 2011 2:47:10 PMSubject: Re: OT- Relationship with Food. legumes you can get plenty of protein but you do have to pair it with another plant protein source to get a complete amino acid building protein. plus you get some from dairy, if you like yogurt! i was surprised that unless we are athletically trained we don't need more the .8-1 gram of protein per pound of body weight per day. i usually do pretty well in that department without extra help but i do keep my supplements close by if it was been a tougher workout kind of day and i need the extra boost. Guest guest
it is from hungry girl... I used pepper and some garlic. I used egg whites but very little to get some moisture to dip zucchini and then fiber one mix... or you can keep zucchini moist and that worked. judy To: exercisevideos Sent: Thu, February 17, 2011 11:46:44 PMSubject: Re: OT- Relationship with Food. Thank you, Judy! (Just don't ask me how many Girl Scout cookies I ate today though! Okay, 3, not terrible but not ideal. I strongly believe in treats though, not deprivation! I get in all my WW Good Health Guidelines then enjoy my treats!) Ground up fiber one with what spices?? I've never heard of this, how interesting!! I love zucchini too. When you say dipped, do you mean covered in, like a coating? I'm very intrigued!
