Guest guest
I agree I've just finished a book called The Great Cholesterol Con by Dr Malcolm Kendrick which was very interesting and he shows that statins are ineffective for women (and men too, but especially women). Some of you may have seen him speak at the Weston A Price conference, one of the best speakers I'd ever seen, very funny guy. Anyone worried about cholesterol, heart disease, etc should read this. > > Margaret sorry for getting into someone else topic but statins are very bad for you and really not effective: > http://search.mercola.com/search/pages/Results.aspx?k=statins > > > > > > It might be an idea to see if you can speak to an NHS dietician on the phone or to get an appointment: it may surprise you (or maybe not) to find that they keep up to date with journals and research. And you don't have to pay them for their advice! > > > > Obviously they know a lot more than a health visitor on this subject. > > > > (Last year I saw one who was trying to help me lose weight. When she heard I was on statins she took the trouble to find and print out some research which supported the view that it might be a good idea to take Coenzyme Q10 if you are on statins. I was impressed; needless to say the doctors I later mentioned this to had never heard of such a thing. She also warned me about using aspirin on a regular basis - not because of stomach bleeds, which everyone knows about, but for nutritional reasons.) > > > > I remember coming across this news re late introduction of gluten: I think there's only one paper supporting this view so far, so it might be worth finding out what a dietician thinks. I suggest taking the paper with you in case they haven't come across it before. > > > > Margaret > > >
Guest guest
What doctors don't tell you had an article on them and they did not shine in any glory.. contributing to more illness than it cures... cholesterol from an energy perspective only becomes high because of slow passage of blood and sludging of the veins .. so the fat collects in the sludge.. There are a number of ways of speeding this flow up.. including magnetic therapy. Best WisehsTracey I agree I've just finished a book called The Great Cholesterol Con by Dr Malcolm Kendrick which was very interesting and he shows that statins are ineffective for women (and men too, but especially women). Guest guest
Thanks - I stopped them last September. The pain I was having went away over 90% in one week after stopping Simvastatin! Still haven't done anything else to keep the cholesterol down a bit, though... Guest guest
Statins inhibit an enzyme called HMG-CoA to produce their effect of lowering cholesterol - but they do this with lots of side effects. Here is a study demonstrating the same action on the HMG-CoA enzyme by Vitamin C, producing the same end result with no side effects: http://www.jbc.org/content/261/16/7127.abstract > > > > Margaret sorry for getting into someone else topic but statins are very bad for you and really not effective: > > http://search.mercola.com/search/pages/Results.aspx?k=statins > > > > > > > > > > It might be an idea to see if you can speak to an NHS dietician on the phone or to get an appointment: it may surprise you (or maybe not) to find that they keep up to date with journals and research. Guest guest
please bear in mind that at the Weston A Price conference they were saying that cholestorol is not bad for you and is, in fact, good for you. It doesn't cause atherosclerosis. Please do some more research about it cos I think the current story suits the drugs companies. ..
